I am looking for "Grandma and Grandpa" name suggestions. My dd and her dh are planning on starting a family soon:good vibes I want to get a jump start on the name :good vibes
I don't want to be "Granny" or "Grandma" or "Mamaw"…I am a younger (cough, cough) 47 yr old.
Anyway…what do your grandkids call you?
Thanks in advance:thumbsup2

Not really young and hip but my parents are nana and papa.
Otherwise I think mimi is cute.

I grew up calling my Grandmothers Nonnie and that's what my grandchildren call me. Well one of them, the other doesn't talk yet. ;)
Grandpa is Grandpa.

My mom was your age when my oldest was born. My kids call her Grammy.

"Lola" also seems popular for young grandparents

The nieces and nephews fall their grandparents GaGa and Poppie. I've already said I'm axing GaGa as I just don't like it. I called my grandparents oma and opa (german for grandma and grandpa), mimi and poppa and mawmaw and pawpaw.

We call our grandparents Al-bow and Lynn-bow (spelled phonetically here) as they're names are Alan and Lynn.

My kids had so many grandparents that they started calling them "grandma/grandpa with..." whomever they related them to. So, my mom became Grandma with Chris** because they related her with my brother, who's much younger than me and was a teenager when my kids were little. My dad was Grandpa with Joann** because that was his longtime girlfriends name (they were together over 20 years befor she passed away, but never married and we never called her anything but Joann).

Funny story...when my neice was little she kept mixing up grand-MA with grand-PA, and my MIL was bitterly divorced from FIL. She would get upset and correct neice: "its grand MA. Grand MA. MA."

it didn't take long for 3 year old neice to catch on....and MIL is officially known by all her grandkids now as "Grandma-ma"

:)

FIL is Grandpa with Nancy**, and Nancy (step grandma) is Nana.

My grandma, who just passed away was called "Grandma with Chris's mom", or Grandma Zwisky, which was a pretty funny mispronunciation of her last name by DD.

My dad's mom, whom my kids have only met once, is called "your dad's mom" by my kids.

They are so funny.

**all names changed to aliases :)

My grandson started calling me Maga because he couldn't say Grandma. Now my granddaughter does too. I love it. My kids called their grandma Gigi...hard "g".

My parents are called Nona and Opa by my kids. Opa was supposed to be Oompah (he's a tuba player), but DD couldn't say it and Opa stuck.

My first grand child(ren) will be here next spring- we'll find out how many Monday. I'm leaning towards Gigi myself. Not sure about dh but probably poppa.

My kids call their grandmothers Gramma Firstname, Grammy and Granny. My grandmother is Great-Gramma or GG to them. Grandfathers are Grandpa Firstname, Grandad and Grandpa.

I became a grandma at 35 and I am called Grandma. My great-grandson was born 10/3/14 and I am 53. We plan on having him call me Gigi for great-grandma.

My parents are Grammy & Papa (my mom didn't want to be called "plain 'ole Grandma", she wanted something more "hip"! :lmao: and my Dad was supposed to be Grandpa, but my son started calling him Papa and it stuck!)

My husband's parents are Mimi (she was also supposed to be Grammy, but with her first granddaughter it came out Mimi) and FIL is Grandaddy.

Sometimes what you want to be called isn't what sticks! The grandkids sometimes make up their own names! :)

Not a grandparent but my kids call my parents Nana and Poppy. :) I called my grandmother Meme and my grandfather was Pop Pop.

My kids call their grandmother, Gigi, short for Grandma G--- (first name starts with G). She also became a grandma at a young age and did not want to be called granny or grandma. Sometimes the kids shorten it to Geeg. I called one of my grandmothers Mimi, so it's sort of a continuation of that tradition.
