I would like to buy some school supplies as a Christmas present for my sons preschool teacher. Can anyone recommend what I can buy that the school doesn't provide for the teachers that they would like to get so they don't have to buy it themselves?

If it is an elementary teacher, colored pencils, smelly markers, craft supplies like googly eyes, tissue paper, yarn, etc., children's books, and games and puzzles for inside recess.

sorry can't read - all of those would be great for preschool too!

Ds noticed that his third grade teacher always borrowed a broom from another teacher to clean up after art projects or when they brought dirt in from the playground so that's what she got that year from him. She loved it and that it was something he noticed she needed.

I work in a Preschool in the public school system. At the beginning of the year we get tons of donations but by January not much is left. Here is what is on our list.
Tissues
napkins
paper towels
bottled soap (or refills)
spoons
glue sticks
clorox wipes
ziplock bags (all sizes)

Any of these would be greatly appreciated!!

Agree 10% with this list, but would also add twistable crayons and starbright peppermints to the list (they help a 'hurting tummy')

Does she have a good pencil sharpener? I bought one for DS's teacher last year after he kept complaining about the broken sharpener in their classroom.

Lots of good suggestions here. Also a gift card to a craft store like Michaels or a store like Target would be good too. Put a note for them to get what they need for the room or to make their lives easier at work.

Some schools cant give out treats at all. Since many of my students have religious dietary restrictions (certain breads, kosher foods, only certain dairy items)- I am not comfortable with giving any type of candy/treat.

I teach middle school and I would love a pencil sharpener!

A gift card for your local dollar store or craft store. A gift card for a local coffee shop, mcdonalds, movie theatre, restaurant etc.. might also be nice.

I teach pre-K in a public school, and the best gift I could get would be a gift card to Hobby Lobby or Joann Fabric. I spend between $1500-2000 a year on supplies for my classroom, so every little bit helps!!

SUPPORT! The biggest things teachers need is support from the general public. Teachers are not the problem, and never have been. But public sentiment (mainly from politicians and for-profit education companies) have made teachers and schools out to be failing factories. What teachers really need is parental support at home, and public support at the ballot box.

Since you are looking for a good gift for your child's teacher, I'm assuming you already give your support.....and the teacher is surely appreciative :goodvibes

Target Gift card with a note that it is for classroom supplies

Shelf stable snack items if the class does a group snack (our parents take turns bringing snack and sometimes forget)

Baby wipes

Stickers

Special craft supplies such as a kit that makes foam gingerbread men

supplies for a special project such as cookie dough and sprinkles

a new toy for the classroom

books

Most preschools here have basic art and cleaning supplies covered but if not, any of those are good. My teachers love the Clorox wipes and swifter mop supplies for a quick between cleaning need.
