What do I need to know about Miami and the Wonder?

...I love deck 6 - very central to everything.

This was my comment too. We've been on the Wonder twice...both times on deck 6. Its a short walk up or down to everything. Except for the very first time I was onboard, I don't remember using the elevator for anything.

If there are no affiliated hotels, what are the shuttle I paid for? (Booked through DCL)
Miami Airport to Port of Miami (and back again if round trip)

So far (3) cruises out of Miami we have taken the DCL bus from the Airport TO the port (never returned to Miami Airport after cruise :) ) Even when we have been in the Miami area several days before the cruise we take our rental car (or hotel shuttle) back to the airport and take DCL bus. If there's a next time we might just take a taxi ($24+tip) to the port.

DO you know how the Miami activity works? http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/c...hop-on-hop-off-miami-city-tour-with-transfer/

So, you leave the boat with your luggage, store your luggage with the tour, get on the tour bus, do the tour, and then come back to get your luggage and finally take your shuttle to Miami Airport?

  • Shuttle service is available to Miami International Airport every hour from 11:45 am to 4:45 pm. Shuttle service to Ft Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is available at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

Is the food at Beach Blanket as good as Cabanas? (We can deal with the lines, as long as the food is good LOL).

I did not visit the bars on the Dream at all... except for a Mixology Class. Can't really compare. :)

The adult Quiet Cove on the Wonder looks better (on pictures) than the one on the Dream.
The food is as good but coller at the end re the line and you cant nip back easy for an slice of toast only.

I liked the adult pool better on the Wonder but not significantly better
The food is the same quality On both ships (my opinion )

I have been on both the Wonder and the Dream. We were on the Dream on a week Mid-September and one of the lowest capacity/cheapest cruises of that year.

We enjoyed both cruises very much. But I think our timing also had an affect on our cruises. I felt way more cramped and crowded on the Wonder than I did the dream; but I think that's because the Dream is so much bigger; and there were probably a lot less people on that cruise.

Either way; we were adult only on both cruises. We loved the dining rooms on both ships. We did not do any of the Remy/Palo on the Dream. We did do the Brunch on the Wonder at Palo and it was AMAZING! But we enjoyed dinner each night.

We live in Orlando; so we drove down to Miami the night before our cruise. We ended up booking a hotel on hotwire.com and got a great deal at a really nice hotel right near the port. We also parked at the port; which was super easy to navigate. A week prior I had a coworker go on a cruise out of Miami; and she did not park at port; and came back to a tree on top of her car; and the cops basically saying "Sorry, there's really not a lot we can do. The best and safest place to park is at the Port". So that's what we did.

Either way; its a Disney Crusie you're going on, and just go and have fun!

Chiamarie: During our last cruise on the Dream (mi-April)... Our cruise was sold out. Nassau Day was the worst. No room for us at the Quiet Cove...!

On the Wonder, we'll go mid-march. We'll see if they sell out. :)

All my Wonder cruises have sold out. The quiet Cove pool was never crowded. Sometimes a bit challenging to get a lounge chair but usually not. The pool itself was usually pretty empty

That would be nice. Quiet cove on the dream was human soup.

Anybody know a good shuttle company (something like Mears - affordable and efficient) who could provide shuttles for us from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel (central Miami Beach) to the port? So far, I get 40$ for a cab just to go to the Port.

Cab fare from the airport to the port is a flat rate $27 (up from $24 recently). Does your hotel offer an airport shuttle?

Unfortunately no... (we are in talk because there is a chance that our plane arrives really late and we might add an hotel night at the airport as well, but we'd still have to move from one hotel to the other) ... and it doesn't offer a shuttle to the port either. It's the ride from the hotel to the port shuttle who's the worst (40$).

I am on the hunt for a good quality day rate at a beachfront hotel/resort in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. So far I haven't had much luck but I'm hoping there will be more options closer to our date in October. Let me know if you've heard of a good one.

Courtyard Miami Beach Oceanfront (Cadillac)? This is the one I booked.
