I need your advice! We just recently went on a 4 night Wonder cruise and while we had a good time it was not great. My very quiet and shy girls were overwhelmed by all the kids that were aboard. I love cruising and can't wait to go again I'm just not sure what cruiseline I should pick. Can anyone help me?

When did you cruise? You may want to consider going in the "off" season/school time.... less kids... I have not been on other cruise lines however I have researched several of them spacifficaly the kids programs.. and I believe DCL has the best kid programs out there not to mention that they have lots of family events unlike the other lines, so if your kids arent into the kids clubs there is still plenty to do as a family.. My advise is reasearch reasearch reasearch...........

We went the 2nd week of march not to crowded...

WAY less kids. And by WAY less I mean there were maybe 35-40 in my sons 3-4 kids club age group. Tons of things for them to do. A beautiful ship and BETTER kids clubs!

We took our kids on HAL, never did get them to use the clubs. Turned into a wonderful family vacation. We were together 24/7 for a week, something we can't do at home with school/work etc.
So when we went on DCL we were prepared to do the same, again they found the family and adult activities far more interesting than anything in the clubs, and other than the hour my wife and I spent at wine tasting, we had another wonderful family vacation together.
Both times we got to be their friends, not mom and dad.

Chrisn....

I have a question for you like I said I have never been on any other cruise than DCL..... On RCCl were there "family" activities.... or just kids programs for the kids to do? when you talk with cruise line officials there idea of "family" is often different, they of course want to sell the ship....

Thanks for the info...

Voyager was fabulous for family. At the time we cruised, DD was 14 and DS for 4. There were family activities. Game shows, contests, kareoke, etc. The main theatre evening entertainment was geared more toward adults but we enjoyed, mini golf, rock climbing, in-line skating on the skate track, ice skating together on a boat in the ocean! That was humorous! My DS, I couldn't DRAG him out of the kids club. The arcade was fabulous! We loved lunching at Johnny Rockets together. Getting frozen cokes at what I call "the mall" (The central drag lined with shops, eatery's, bar's, etc. It was just wonderful. My dad asked me "how was the ship?" I said "that's not a ship, that's a floating city?" And it was......

I too am interested in doing one of the new Mega RCCL ships. My kids 4 and 6 were not thrilled with DCL clubs either and we found there was not much for us all to do together during the day. (The pools were SO packed, my kids wouldn't get in.) RCCL interests me b/c there would be the climbing walls, ice skating, in-line skating, putt-putt and the mall area. My husband would also rather be on a ship which has a casino. I thought DCL was great but not so perfect that I don't want to try something different (and maybe cheaper!) next time.
