Hi, sorry if this sounds stupid.

I have booked yachtsman steakhouse for September and the CM said no Tank Tops with regards to the dress code, however I am from the UK and I am not 100% sure what a tank top is? is it any sleveless top or just a paticular type? I don't want to be turned away as we are not dressed right.

I have seen plenty of nice tank tops on women.

I think the fact that you are asking makes it unlikely that you would be wearing what is disparingly called a "wife beater". A sleeveless men's T-shirt that could double as underwear.:rotfl2:

Typically, on a woman, a tank top has very skinny straps like this:

Where as a sleeveless shirt has thicker straps, like this:

I think the latter would be fine since it has a collar. Have fun at Yachtsman! :)

From my point of view, a tank top is a specific cut of shirt. Since you are from the UK, if you watched Keeping Up Apperances on BBC, it's the cut of shirt that Onlsow wore on the show. Similar to a sleeveless tee shirt, but the shoulder area is thinner.
I must believe that for the dress code purposes, it refers to any sleeveless shirt. I do not think that applies to certain types of women's blouses and women's clothing, but certainly to men's clothing and anything resembling a tee shirt (worn by either men or women).

That is an interesting question though. I have never seen it defined anywhere by WDW.

And it all probably dosen't matter anyway as I saw all sorts of women in collar-less shirts this last trip. Including some like the first photo in Anie87's post.
I think Marykatesmom has stated what would really be unacceptable--

We had dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse tonight and everything was excellent. I would say tank tops would be too casual. Shorts and a nice shirt will do just fine.
