What do Dis-ers wear?

Are they supposed to wear a lime green shirt? Now, if you saw me you'd agree that I have NO business in a lime green shirt. Pale skin, strawberry blonde hair, YICK. But I thought I read somewhere that they also do ribbons.

I'd like to "identify" myself in a SMALL way....nothing that screams "I'M OBSESSED WITH DISNEYWORLD" (even though I think I am!)

I don't wear lime green. It's enough that everytime I travel they checked and re-checked me because (I think they think that) I look like a criminal. If I wear a lime-green shirt (or moreso, T-shirt), i will then look like a loony criminal.

It's tough to have long hair... and I'm only talking about taking care of my hair.

There are buttons, pins, pens and other items that you can order off the DIS Store here. I've gotten the Pins with my screen name printed on them and put them on my backpack. When I'm walking around with it on my back, people can see it. Home Depot has some Mickey paint sample cards in Lime green too that people have displayed either pinned to tee shirts or backpacks. Lots of options!

You can go to Home Depot and get a lime green Disney paint sample (it is shaped as a mickey head) and attach some curling ribbons and pin it on your backpack/fanny pack/ whatever you want to pin it on. That's what I do. although last year no one noticed me

No one noticed me either. Personally, I don't know what I'd do if I saw another DIS person. I don't think I'd run after them, but if they were standing near me, then I'd say hello. Most of the lime green I have seen is usually from a distance and I'd have to go after them and ask them if they are DIS'ners. I don't think I'd do that. What if they say "no, lady you're nuts"! I'd be so embarresed.

We just got back recently and I tied lime green ribbons ALL OVER our stroller and no one noticed. I also didn't see anyone else with lime green.
Oh well, made the stroller really easy to find though.

I don't wear lime green clothing because it's waaay too common for summer wear to be distinguised as "DIS" clothing...but.... I DO wear lime green ribbons. I also have a DIS shirt a DIS pin, and a DIS antenna ball (purchased right here on the DIS Store). I tie several 6" lengths of lime green curling ribbon to the front and back of my waist pouch tied to a Home Depot Mickey head paint chip! I've been spotted by other DISers several times. Please don't be afraid to approach someone with the ribbons or a DIS pin. They are wearing it with the intention of BEING NOTICED BY OTHER DISers!

I did the Mickey head thing, and hung it on my fanny pack. Unfortunately no one noticed me, and I didn't see any others. My dh, however, met a fellow DIS'er at the pool. No lime green involved, just happened to be chatting with the guy sitting next to him. Of course I was in the room making dinner, DH has never set foot on the DIS, so he couldn't even tell him my name. Oh well, I tried to find the guy later to say hi, but never did. His name was PaulTS I think.

Did the exact same thing. A week's trip back in Feb '04 only 'attracted' one DIS lurker, and a 2-week trip back in Dec only 'attracted' three DISers. Two approached me and just PM-ed me recently.

No one noticed it, or no one said anything if they did. I'm not much for wearing lime green but I would like to see a DIS surfer style cap, maybe in light grey with the DIS logo embroidered in lime green on the front. The T-shirt is good but you can only really wear it one day unless you do laundry while at WDW. How would you like to have photos of yourself wearing the same shirt 7 days in a row? Whew! A hat can be worn everyday with no problem.
Just a note: we have not seen one lime green ribbon in 5 trips to the World since 9/99. That's unfortunate. We have met some other DIS'rs, though. This last trip we met 3: one on our flight down (Good Deeds); one during our Segway Tour (msmom) and one while sitting in the spa at POR one evening (Jim's Mom).

I don't wear lime green either... reminds me of the 80's! LOL Some Disers have talked about wearing a lime green ribbon on their backpack, or jazzing up those mickey head paint samples from Home Depot. I forgot mine on my trip.

I agree with the shirt issue...I have just one Dis shirt and I go to WDW for 9 days....eeewwwww. So, I wear my Dis green fanny pack, thank-you very much DisShop!!! Now, the only time I have ever seen or been seen by another Diser was at LTT waiting to be seated on Nov 30, '04. I sat there, looking across the room and saw another Dis fanny pack. Now, I knew that there were going to be some other Disers there since we had gotten a list going. So, over I went (very unlike me to do that) and the nice lady says.."Ooh, you must be Diane, I told them it was you." It was Stacey. There were a bunch of us there, and we had a great meet later that evening.

I have to say that I might be a little hesitant to just go up to someone. There was a huge amount of lime green in the stores last year. I really didn't want anyone to think I was a crazy lady saying..."Are you a Diser?"

You're correct! We don't care if you take them, there are plenty and it's not common for too many people to take them from the same store for that purpose. I used to work at Home Depot and there are more on the floor than what people would take. I personally only took a couple anyway.

Wore a paint sample with my screen name on it all week last year. The only DISer I talked to was the one I swapped Pal Mickey with. I'll wear one again this trip.

I did see other lime green items on people but didn't have the guts to ask.

Maybe this time I'll put my screen name on and something like,
"DISer, ask me".
