What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

I'm looking to find a good little digital camera for about $200. I would like something that has a movie clip feature, and 7.2 mp. I was curious since a few people talked about camera's if anyone would offer up some advice about the camera's they have, you don't have to tell me what you spent or anything like that. :scared1: I just wanted to know what everyone likes  about their cameras, or dislikes  , such as what they wish they had feature wise or do have for their kind of camera and really enjoy. Even if you spent more on your camera than I'm wanting to spend I would like people's advice and opinions about their camera's anyway. My needs are something that will work for both a camera that won't have all that grain show up if I do close ups (without all the film to buy) and something that will do short little movie clips so we don't have to bring a bulky video camera around. I hate not knowing what I'm getting myself into :sad2: so that's why the request for much needed advice. Thank you. :flower3:

This is the camera I currently use most often - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...CategoryId=pcmcat99000050021&id=1165610073098

I cannot say enough good things about it. I've had a digital camera of some stripe since 2MP was cutting edge. Of the cameras I've had and used - 2 Olympuses that cost upwards of $400 each, a cheapie HP that cost $120, and my current Sony, the Sony is the best I've had, hands down. It is small enough to keep in a pocket (the whole reason I bought it, as my Olympus is still perfectly functional, but bulky), has a nice range of features, some very nice presets for shooting specific color/lighting conditions (like a beach mode and a snow mode), and takes decent video clips. Plus it takes a rechargeable battery pack rather than AAs, which I prefer. It seems to charge faster than my recharageable AAs, and the charger is more compact and more durable than my Radio Shack quick charger for the AAs. I like this camera so much that when it came time to start looking at digital SLRs and making a real investment in a higher end camera, I decided on another Sony pretty quickly.

This is a video I took with it (Forgive the orientation, I haven't gotten around to cleaning these pics up yet and Webshots doesn't allow you to rotate video): http://family.webshots.com/video/3024961240042404303yOlosN?vhost=family

Here's an action shot of my son's surfing lesson: http://family.webshots.com/photo/2785914050042404303eiHHtt?vhost=family

And here's one playing with the snow mode on an early April morning: http://family.webshots.com/photo/2362330970042404303OPQnTg?vhost=family

The best advice given to me was to join AAA for the discount. We're going in October and so far have not found any codes to save on the rack rate. By using AAA, I was able to save $200 on the 'room only' rates!

Best advice: travel light, wear old comfy shoes, wear sunscreen, relax and enjoy what you can and accept you'll have to go back as there isn't any way to see it all.

Another one I'm glad I heard of was how to use FP. It saved me so much time that I didn't get a hopper option on my ticket so it saved me money too. I thought about the hopper because I was afraid I wouldn't have time to see what I wanted to within two days so I just went to MG on Friday and EPCOT on Saturday without the hopper option. I probably would have been too tired to hop between the parks anyway.

One thing that I thought was a great idea was the travel size Tide at Target. Ziploc Bags for packing clothes and the collapsible hamper was a life saver. I enjoy going to wash my families clothes mid trip just to get some quiet time and read.:)

The best advice I ever got, and listned to, was to make copies of the back of my park tickets incase they were ever lost. I did this last trip, and let me tell you...thank god I did. I lost my pass BUT with the copy I made, I was able to have the old one voided and a new pass issued in minutes.

I have to second this

I have noticed that lots of people have suggested buying trading pins on ebay, but make sure they are ones that can be traded. How do you know which ones can be traded? I want to buy some of these for my kiddos before our trip in Sept but don't want to get there and they be disappointed that no one wants theirs.
Thanks for all the great info --

I love my canon powershot -- I have had a few different digital cameras and love this one best! Awesome pictures and video, small enough to carry around and uses AA batteries instead of the rechargeable ones which have left me in some binds before.

Just back, tips I was glad I listened.
$1 hamper at the Dollar Store.
A lot of pictures from Photopass and bought CD of pictures.
Shipped some things home 2 boxes Fed Ex from Resort.
Used Garden Grocer.
Body Glide.

On our last trip to DisneyWorld, I took a bunch of those "Crystal Light On The Go" packets to put in the bottled water at the park... Since both our kids, as well as myself, really don't like plain water, these were a LIFESAVER!!! Not only did we not drink as many sodas, as we could have, but one packet was plenty for each bottle, and the water really helped everyone stay hydrated when it was hot!!!

We were at DW April 16th to the 21st. This wasn't our first trip, but I picked up some great tips here on the DIS. Many have probably been mentioned already...if so just take this as an "I second that" post!

Join ***************** for the $7.95/year...best money I spent! The touring plans were a big help!!

Buy tickets from Undercover Tourist and sign up for MouseSavers for the extra discount. UT had great service and the prices were good too.

Body Glide, Body Glide, Body Glide...need I say more?

Use Fast Pass...why do people continue to wait in those LOOOOOONG lines?

A great FP tip...if you have a group and only some want to go on an FP ride, gather up the tickets and get lots of fast passes and then those riding it can ride, get off and ride again. It worked great for Expedition Everest...3 of the 6 in our party wanted to ride, so we got all 6 FP's and rode twice in a row.

"Mexico" is great place to watch "IllumiNations" from.

Oh....watch the "candy making" in Japan...sorry I don't remember the Japanese name for it... She is amazing!!!

Loving all the tips! I'm definitely going to invest in some Body Glide before our next trip...

Here are mine! I've only read to page 8 so I hope none are repeats but there may be a few...

When getting your Fastpasses, keep one hand on over your park ticket at all times as if it was your bank card, so you don't forget it when you grab your passes!

get a nice print out of all your dining reservations from guest services, or if your on the dining plan, at the end of your trip, a list of what, when and where you ate everything...good for memories if your nutty like me!
Dining plan is a money saver and vacation enhancer big time

Buy enought bottled water and bring a few bottles with you every day- stay hydrated!

Use magical express but consider picking up your luggage when you get to Orlando and bringing to the bus yourself

Try Gardengrocer dot com for grocery delivery direct to your room. Cost is only 10 dollars and with that we were able to skip the towncar, use the free Magical Express and get right into the Disney spirit of things!

Bring your own detergent/dryer sheet or buy special travel sized at the market to avoid paying a bit too much in the laundry room.

Buy the Unoffical Guide for the year you are traveling. Already, after you read that your ahead of the game big time! Then, log onto their site and using the book get free access to their best days list. The list is updated constantly depending on crowd ratings. This one tip I believe is pretty important, that and get there early.

Let the CM's take loads of photopass pictures of you, even if you don't plan on buying them all. View them when you get home online, great memories and some turn out very nice!

Do Crystal Palace and Ohana's. No matter what.

Water cooler with a towel underneith, filled with ice to keep drinks cold if you are staying in a value resort. Works a treat and if you use Garden Grocer like we did they have them for about 5 dollars!

Know all about the Fastpass system

I was curious if anyone has tested the Monistat chaffing gel vs. the Bodyglide? I bought the chaffing gel already thinking it was the better route to go because of the cost difference, but now wondering if it's the better choice. Also does anyone know where to buy the over the door shoe organizer with the clear see through plastic? I'm have a heck of a time trying to find such an item, all I find are the canvase or net and they run anywhere from 12-16 dollars. :scared1: I've tried the "Dollar" stores and can't seem to find them. Help! ;) Thanks you.

One thing I'm going to do this year is pack about 10 clothes hangers as there just aren't enough, I will then just leave them there so more room for souvenirs :thumbsup2
