I have been on the websites and I am looking for suggestions from the DIS community which are the best Disney Restaurants for peolpe with food allergies. And, If you have the free dining plan. Can you get a quick service meal instead of a sit down dinner?

If you go over to the disABILITIES Board, you'll find tons of information on dining at WDW with food allergies.

:welcome: to the DIS, by the way. :goodvibes

I don't know a ton about free dinning but I have a lot of friends that travel with allergies, some extreme. All of the restaurants are great with handling. The key for them is ADR's and letting the restaurants know ahead of time.

....my DH has celiac, so he must be on a strict GF diet....it's been our experience that ALL the restaurants cater to food sensitivities and allergies, as long as you inform WDW when making any ADR's (usually WAYYYY in advance). Chefs had come out of their respective kitchens to introduce themselves to let my DH know what he can or cannot eat - they will also go as far as to prepare a 'special' meal of his liking [that may not even be on the menu!]...

My daughter has many and unusual allergies. We have found WDW to be wonderful when dealing with her. Both table service and counter service will work with us to ensure her safety. The only place we had a problem with was Columbia Harbor House. They provided what she needed but they had a bit of an attitude. I think we must have caught them on an off day. We have always liked them before.

DW has some pretty severe allergies, and we have yet to encounter a problem at WDW. We note it when we are making the ADRs, and then remind them when we get to the restaurant, and WDW is always very accommodating.

There are a couple restaurants that we cannot go to, however, due to her extreme sensitivity to shellfish. No matter how good WDW is about allergens, Coral Reef is just not going to happen. for us.

My son has multiple allergies and Disney is the best we have ever experienced in terms of helping us. Over on the Disabilities board, they'll be able to give you the number of a specialist you can call.

We tend to do table service, it's just easier with a kid with as many allergies as my son has. When we book the ADR, we tell them we have a diner with food allergies. They then ask us what he's allergic too...when I hit the 6th or 7th thing, they just say "I'll note that he chef needs to talk to you".

When we arrive, we also restate that we have allergies. When they seat you, the chef will come over and talk to you in depth about what the allergies are, what your child likes to eat and will then offer suggestions or (at buffets) will walk the line and tell you what is safe and what isn't. I know a couple times at the buffets the chef wasn't comfortable and cooked my son a special meal in the back. They have always been lovely.

If you have a fairly "standard" allergy, the counter service places have an allergy book you can reference. A manager can help you and you can request that the food is cooked to order for safety.

Good luck! Disney makes things magical for every guest, even those with allergies.

Just a note for those with many allergies. My DD prints up business sized cards with the allergies. She keeps several in her purse at all times, but for WDW she brings enough for every meal she will have and then some. That way she can hand the card to the waiter and not worry about something being forgotten. I can't tell you the number of times she has been thanked by wait staff and chefs for doing that.
