What Disney park u would trade to go to Universal???

I guess it depends on what types of things you and your part prefer... as for me and my family we are HUGE harry potter fans so we don't mind paying the extra money for one day... and we would skip AK for sure.

I would say it depends on who you are traveling with, as AK is one of my FAVORITE parks, along with my youngest son. That's the one we always look forward to most...I wouldn't skip it.

If Harry Potter is a must, regardless of the added expense, I would go to Universal in the morning and hop back to Disney for whichever park has extra magic hour evening. Harry was great but it didn't take long to get through and the rest of the park was only so-so for us.

Another "none" vote here. I wouldn't give up a Disney day for Universal. I'm just not that big a fan. Was raised by a Disney fan and I love all things Disney. I feel like if I'm in Orlando that's where I should be. My DH is talking about doing Universal in 2013 instead of Disney and I'm already disapointed just thinking about it.

Without going into too much research, I'm not sure about the "added expense" posts.

If you definitely know how many days you're going to plan at WDW vs Universal, just purchase your tickets accordingly.

If I had to pick it would be the Animal Kingdom. Go to Harry Potter, it's worth the wait. 90 min to get into the section and 90 min for the ride...so worth it!

Since im on a budget, and my party want to go to see the Harry Potter thing! I want to know what park I can miss to go to Universal, i know this is horrible haha but if u guys could help i would aprreciate it!!

Ohhh....ahem....I thought you were joking. I was going to say "Nice one". A team of Clydesdales couldn't drag me kicking and screaming to US. I love the Potter books (movies stunk to high heaven) but I am such a huge with all of Disney that with all of the Disney slapping that has been going on due to WWoHP, I wouldn't grace the front steps of the place. Just my opinion.

My personal plan of "attack" so I wouldn't have to give up what I want to do would be to do IOA one day. If you love HP and must see it and want to go on other thrills rides, then go for it.

I would then consolidate DHS and AK into one day when DHS has eEMH. AK in the morning, be there at rope drop and have fun. Then take a little break and go to DHS for the rest of the evening. This would only really work during slower part of the year, such as the next few weeks. The end of September is a great time to go, btw.

Have fun and I hope you and your party makes the plan that works best for ya'll.

I would consolidate them too, or skip DHS. Our favorite ride at the DHS is Tower of Terror, and we go to DLR often enough that we could catch the TofT there.

hmm, I was thinking it depends, for me either AK or DHS, but for hubby it might be epcot believe it or not.

When they did that tv add that had the nasty little girl saying she would puke if she saw another princess or some equally gross thing I pretty much figured I would never go to Universal again. I'd been there once years and years ago and didn't think it was all that great. and even so that commercial was so bad it could have had that effect anyway.

We are huge harry potter fans but I don't know if that is enough to get me into universal. the closest thing in my mind to good advice is the person who said just do it in the morning and only do Harry Potter, not all of Universal. for me everything about it now, just brings up the opposite of the good feelings I get from 'disney magic'.

Twenty minutes later they manage to restart the ride but not the effects and movie so I we go through the ride but don't actually see any of it. By the time we get off, the ride has restarted BUT we are told to take our place at the end of the line. Happily there were about half a dozen of us and none of us were willing to settle for that so after about 5 minutes of arguing they allowed us to rejoin the line at a little passthrough near the front.

We have the same plan - go to Harry Potter for one day during our trip next summer. We have decided to skip the Animal Kingdom. It is just sooooo hot there during the summer and it's just not my favorite place. I think it will be worth every extra penny - we love Harry Potter!!

I would choose a day with EMH at DS,
I would do AK in the morning, and then DS in the evening - and free up a day that way.

I would skip DHS. It's a half-day park for me. I usually go at rope drop, then leave by noon. I like ToT, the Muppet Adventure, maybe FP TSM -- and that's about it for me! (I can't do RnR any more; it's one of my favorite rides at WDW, but I now have vertigo, and I'm afraid it would trigger a vertigo attack! I'm so bummed; it was by far my favorite ride at DHS.)

I like to spend at least two days at all of the other parks!

We travel from the Rockies and only make it to WDW every 5 years or so. Depending on how long you are staying, you can do all the Disney parks and Universal, you have to budget your time and, yes, Universal can be expensive. I would recommend the one-day/two-park ticket you can get now, get there at rope drop and hammer it! Islands of Adventure has great coasters and water rides and City Walk is loaded with restaurants and shops. The last time we were in Orlando we spent 8 days, did all 4 Disney parks some 2 times, both water parks, Disney Quest, spent two days at Universal and a day at the beach. It was a blast! I think I got home with about 39 cents in my pocket!
