Ok we have opted for late seating.
We have a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 16.
What do you think is our most likely dining rotation and is there any option to change it (as per my earlier post we would like to do the Golden Mickeys Awards and Tritons on the same night and go formal for them)

I know the DCL board is full of people who understand how they arrange dining rotation so would be grateful of your predictions!

Regards

Here is what has been posted numerous times. I cannot vouch for the "accuracy" though...

Predicting Dining Rotation
The restaurant rotation seems to be based on the makeup of your party:

Have a lot of little ones...count on Animator's, Parrot Cay then Lumiere's. (APL)

Have say 7-10 year olds...count on Parrot Cay, Lumiere's and then Animator's (PLA)

Have older teens, senior citizens, honeymooners, or just adults...count on Lumiere's, Animator's and then Parrot Cay. (LAP)

We had LAP rotation 2 1/2 years ago when the youngest in our party was 11.

This time around, we're taking my husband's son, wife and two grandchildren - the youngest is 6.

Sure wish we'd have the LAP rotation again but I don't believe that will happen.

When you check in, you will be given an information sheet about things happening shortly after boarding. One of the items will be dining changes. If you don't like your rotation, you go to the place specified a few minutes before the starting time and they will change your rotation IF possible. We've always gotten the change when we asked for one, but it is on a "space available" basis.

Yes, the dining rotation ages apply to early and late...but both are a bit flexible....they really try to group older kids/adults together and allow them to avoid the toddlers.

Is your rotation posted on the info you're sent with your tickets or do you need to wait for checkin?

Thanks!

Why does it matter what rotation you have? I mean, why would you want to change it? Everyone, eats in each restaurant regardless of the order, right? What am I missing?

Until I read about the grouping of ages in the dining rotation this weekend, I had no clue that the reason we didn't see many young children at dinner (supper as we call it in Louisiana) on our last Disney cruise was because they were in a different dining room.

I fully understand why Disney attempts to assign dining rotation according to ages in the party.

Some cruisers may prefer to be in a certain dining room on formal and semi-formal night even though the more formal dress requirement in Lumiere's on any night has been changed. Once upon a time, dining in Lumiere's was a more formal event than Animator's Palace or Parrot Cay.

Our experience:

Western 10/02
DD 3
DS 5
APL rotation
Main Seating

Eastern 11/03
DD 4
DS 6
+
friend's DD 6
friend's DS 3
PLA rotation
Main Seating (but we switched to late after 2 nights LOL)

I was SHOCKED when we checked in. We had specifically requested APL rotation as we loved it on the Western. However, the nice thing about switching to PLA on the Eastern is that we were in Luminere's on Sunday (semi/formal) which is how it ended up on the Western (Monday - Luminere's).
