What difference does it make...?

What direction I face the monitor? I was reading the instructions for our new Computer monitor. This is what it says:

*Read Me Before Installation
1. Set the front of your monitor to face the east if possible.
2. When cleaning the outside of your monitor and Picture tube, use a smooth damp cloth or a cloth with a recommended detergent.

This leads to the following questions:

Will I break my monitor if I continue to face it West like it is right now or will I get sick if I face east while looking at this monitor? Are there different monitors that are safe to face west? How about south or north? Should this information be printed on the outside of the box before you buy it: "East facing monitor - facing monitor west will void all warranties."

It's a very scary world.

I better go see how I should be facing??? Hmm with this wireless thing I know I am doomed ;) :)

I'm facing North. :p

LOL....I think it probably has something to do with glare on the screen.

Oops... I guess I am in trouble... mine is facing West  :p

I too think it's a glare issue. We have one desk at work that HAS to keep the window blinds behind her closed. No one else has this problem.

What happens if it faces a Northeast direction?

It's very bizarre. You would think they would say "face monitor away from window if possible." Otherwise you would get a glare in the morning if facing east, if facing west you would get one in the afternoon. Maybe it has to do with the gravitational pull of the moon or something?

Splashmtn, yeah that's why I guessed that as well....When I did data entry, I had a major glare problem at times and the monitor was facing west.

Maybe your monitor just wants to practice good Feng Shui???? Of course I have no idea which direction it should face to do that...

I would guess it's so the sun doesn't shine in your eyes after you've been up all night DISing. . ;) :teeth:

It could be the Feng Shui thing. It's a Samsung. That's a Japanese company isn't it?

I have NEVER done any such thing!

By sheer luck my monitor is facing east. I guess I'm just lucky :teeth:

Actually Samsung is Korean... but I like the Fung Shui idea anyway :teeth:

Mine faces roughly west, and I haven't had a problem. But if I turn it the other way, will my computer stop acting slower than it is? :teeth:

I like the fung shui idea.
