What didn't you like?

I thought Le Cellier and Coral Reef were disgusting... especially Coral Reef, it REEKED. I thought I was going to throw up from the smell of the place.

I also didn't care for the good at Chefs de France... though I got engaged there, so don't tell DH ;)

My never again is Marakesh-:sick:(my famous phrase is smelled like barn, tasted like barn) no thanks

Dh has no interest in going back to Chefs de France just not his thing-I would go back for the french onion soup and creme brulee in a heartbeat.

On of our standards that get trashed a good bit is Tony's but we have had a few great experiences there so it is back on the list for this year.

This is a great thread and proof that opinions are just that! Nothing to base decisions on when there are perfectly good menus to look over and see if anything appeals. Any place can have a bad night, but I usually try a place twice before writing it off. I had to laugh when I saw some of our favorites on the hate list and some of our least favorites on the love lists! :rotfl:To each his own!

Places we didn't like:
Yak & Yeti
SciFi
Mama Melrose (service more than food)

Places we love:
Le Cellier
Tonys
Columbia Harbour House
Tepan Edo
Tuskar House

We like far more restaurants than we don't like so I won't list them all. It may be that I'm just so glad to be at Disney, anything tastes better to me.:lmao:

Will NEVER Return To:

1. LeCellier
2. Crystal Palace Dinner
3. Garden Grill
4. Jiko

--We're giving Narcoossee's a second chance in May... but if we have another bad experience, you can make it number 5.

....also, wasn't a fan of Tonga Toast--but Kona is my favorite breakfast!!

It's funny that you posted this because we're just back from Disney and it kind of became our running joke/planning tool on vacation.

Without getting into specific restaurants, we liked the restaurants that generally get panned here. The restaurants that we didn't like were many of the beloved restaurants here.

We were there for 11 days and by the end of the 4th day we were altering our restaurant reservations as we went. My sister would ask me "Where else has bad reviews on the DIS" and we'd make reservations accordingly!

It was hilarious to us! It's odd that we're so different than the overall impressions/opinions held by so many here.

 So funny that you post this! We were pretty much the same way, other than we liked EVERYTHING we ate!!! I am pretty much through with reading dining reviews on here. My children would keep saying, "Oh mommy, don't listen to those people on the Disboards, they don't know what they are talking about." :rotfl:

Our favorite restaurant is Boma. We also enjoyed 1900 Park Fare dinner, Crystal Palace dinner, Chef de France's dinner, Liberty Tree Tavern lunch, Tusker House breakfast and Akershus Dinner. We found nothing wrong with the food at these places and always found something tasty to eat and left extremely full. We loved the School Bread in Norway and loved the Jalepeno Cheese pretzels in AK.

The one place that DH & I won't go back to give a 2nd try is
Tutto Italia
Wasn't better than our local Maggiano's or Carrabbas but almost 2x the price:scared1: Fortunately we were on the DDP that trip.Food came out far too fast. Our pasta dishes at WPE in DTD marketplace took longer & tasted fresher.

Place we liked that have gotten bad reviews
Rose & Crown :thumbsup2 we have done it every trip and it has always been good.
ESPN Club :thumbsup2. Another regular. It is our 1st day's lunch. We stick to the burgers, sandwiches & salad so I can't pass any judgement on the entrees.

Tony's- bleh, I still eat there, but it is because of lack of table service in MK

Sunshine Seasons- high school cafeteria- horrible experiences there.

Akershus- you have to go if you have a daughter, but not great food... BEAUTIFUL people though, hehe

The commissary in HS- YUCKK!!!!!

I am sure I have others...

who likes their meats/poultry covered in cinnamon and vanilla???? YUCK!

Huh? I'm thinking maybe this person didn't dine at the same Boma. It's not for everyone, but they have basic foods for kids, fresh fruits, fresh salads, four different soups, hummous, and desserts. The beef is just a basic roast beef. It's one of the few places with a selection for fresh fruits.

Eventually you'll get every place listed.:rotfl:

Some time ago, I would have said Mama Melrose was the worst. Now it's quite good. (we gave it ten years)

Kouzzina was pretty bad, except the fish. Even the kids' pizza was a small tomato cookie. Really? A Greek restaurant that can't make pizza? This place is Greek/Southern Fusion. They took the worst of Greek flavors, and bathed them in the worst of Southern heaviness. Yuck! (and I like light Southern and good Greek, which is often very light.)

1900 PF dinner stands out the most for me. I didn't even eat that evening. I also didn't care for Crystal Palace breakfast but loved their lunch. I was totally excited about the puffed french toast and it was just blah when I got there. Reminded me of a sugared doughnut? Oh and the bread at Ohana...I just didn't get that either. I prefer Kings Hawaiian bread to what they serve there ;)

Sure, here are a few places I don't like:

  • Nine Dragons
  • Lotus Blossom Cafe
  • Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater
  • Chef Mickey's
  • Pizza Planet
  • ABC Commissary
  • Yak & Yeti counter service

Well, we really didn't like:
ABC Commissary-let's just say we will never return.
50's Primetime-I am baffled by the way people on the Dis rave about this place. The atmosphere was fun, but the food was gross.
Chefs de France-Not terrible, but not really good.

The restaurants that I think are way, way overrated on the Dis are 'Ohana and Le Celliar. I have dined at both of them multiple times and just don't get it. :confused3

We really love Rose and Crown (atmosphere, food, service...beer;)) and lots of people pan it. We love Tutto Italia and Sci-Fi (for lunch) and they both get panned. I'd take dinner at Rose and Crown or Tutto any day of the week over Le Celliar. We really like Yak and Yeti as well and that gets mixed reviews.

Oh, and I would not dine at Boma for dinner because many people I have talked to (friends & neighbors) all said that everything tastes like cinnamon and other spices not normally found on meat, and they really were not impressed. I detest cinnamon (and other traditional "baking" spices) on meat. So, I know that's probably not a place I would like.

Places we didn't like:
Biergarten
50's Prime Time
Chef Mickey's

Places we loved:
Le Cellier
Tusker House
Wolfgang Puck Express

We, too, followed advice and likes on here, and didn't understand how DISers LOVE Biergarten and 50s PT... just gross. And we do not have high expectations for character meals, as you are there more for the character interaction, not the food.

this is a great thread though!!!

Places we won't go back to:
San Angel Inn
Crystal Palace dinner

Yak and Yeti is so-so

Places we love:
Le Cellier
Tutto Italia (which gets very mixed reviews here :confused3)
Crystal Palace breakfast
Wolfgang Puck Express

Our faves: Tutto Italia
Olivia's - ****super fave!
Kona Cafe
Ohana's

Our least favorites:
50's Prime Time
San Angel
The Wave

Mom of 2 teens who have been going since they were 5 and 8...they have contributed to this list!
