What did you use for your dessert party?

I'm trying to plan the menu for my dessert party and am getting a little overwhelmed with the possibilities. I was wondering what other people used and liked/disliked about the food. I have to keep it within a reasonable budget too...

I'd love to hear what others have done also. I've read a bit in a few threads about what some of the brides have done so you may have to dig a little and try different search queries. My wedding isn't until 2013 but I am also planning to do a dessert party as a welcome party for my guests. But I'm not doing desserts, I'm doing a signature drink and cocktail food (by disney still a desert party lol). I'm not big on sweets and most of my guests aren't either I was thinking maybe fresh fruit and sorbet if possible. I think the sorbet depends on the location. I would defiantly go with stuff you will like and that you think your guests will enjoy.

Choosing simpler things like cookies and brownies will keep costs lower than if you go for the fancy stuff. Or you might consider doing a single action station, like an ice cream sundae bar.

I do recommend searching this board for dessert party menus people have posted, but I can tell you my all-time favorite DP treat is chocolate peanut butter marshmallow squares. I'm just not sure Epcot is still making them the same way. Disney's cupcakes are decent, and I liked the funnel cake bread pudding, but it definitely needs ice cream. I find their brownies, mini eclairs, and mini pecan pies bland.

We received our price today it will be $30pp. This is a little less than we anticipated, and we are considering adding some fruit.

We had fresh fruit, assorted cookies, s'mores, chocolate peanut butter marshmallow squares, cheesecake bites, chocolate covered Mickey rice krispy treats and chocolate covered pretzels drizzled with white chocolate. Everything was a hit!

We did a welcome dinner/dp so didn't have a big selection of desserts but what we had was awesome. The mini cheesecakes are amazing!!! We also had tiramisu which was really good too and mini canolis which I heard were good but I didn't eat them.

My favorite thing at our DP was the mini-Napoleons: they tasted JUST like the ones from the French bakery!

(On a side note, the brownies were had at our DP were moist and yummy, and not like the ones found elsewhere OP. We had the GF bakery though, so it might vary if your DP is in Epcot.

I used the option that included dark and white chocolate for dipping. It included items like fruit and sweets to dip in the chocolates and small pastries that were delicious!

And it was not bad on the pocket. We had a Wishes DP at Sago Cay Pointe for under $1100 for 25 people.

We have our PS and tasting in 2 weeks, so we will make the final decision then and get pricing.

I attended a Tables in Wonderland dessert party and was NOT impressed with the flambé doughnut station and my DF and I decided against it for ours.

All dessert parties are created equal in Disney's eyes. It doesn't matter whether you're having an Escape event or a Wishes event, or even whether you got married on property.

Anyone has pictures of this Funnel Cake Bread Pudding I keep hearing about? I wonder if I can try it during our dessert part for our planning session.

We plan to have ZEBRA DOMES!! Funnel cake, brownies, make your ice cream sundae with all the toppings or make your own floats and peanut butter chocolate squares.

We did a custom menu for our dessert party, because I don't like chocolate (I know, weird). I did leave the brownies on the menu for our guests that DO like chocolate. However, I was so disappointed when we arrived to the DP and almost everything was drizzled with...you guessed it, chocolate. I told my planner that I didn't like chocolate, and she made a note of it, but I guess it was overlooked. Everything was still amazing though. we had:

Sweet Potato Buttons
Petit Cheesecake
Linzer Diamonds
Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Fruit Tarts (these are amazing! The biggest hit at the party)
Banana Pudding Trifle
Warm Funnel Cake Pudding with Caramel Sauce
Marshmallow Squares with Butterscotch Chips

Fruit Punch, Coffee, and Tea
With Flavored Syrups and Sticks, Sugars, Creams, and Honey

It was $31 pp for the food, plus a $50 small party fee (we had 18 people at the DP) and an $85 outdoor set up fee. There was plenty of food, and if I had to do it again, I'd take out the sweet potato buttons and the rice crispy squares. My guests weren't big fans of those! Hope this helps! Let us know what you decide!

Nice spread for $31! I got quoted for a few different price points - 30, 36, and 40.... We would like to keep at close to 30 as possible though! Apparently a few of our choices are higher end and also we feel like we have TOOO MUCH STUFF!!!! ahahahahaha
