What Did YOU Order From Room Service ?

I loved the chicken tenders but my DH did not like the hamburger. It was yucky. This is not room service but I went to Lumiere's ang got a Mickey Ice cream. They plated it for me (with sprinkles and everything) and I took it back to the room. It was great!

Kids loved PB&J and Hubby and I loved the chili in the tortilla shell. We will definitely use room service much more on our next cruise in Sept.

Just back from 6/1 Magic, ordered room service 3 or 4 times, always got in less than 30 minutes.
Vegetarian pizza, chees plate and stuffed noodles were very good.

Is there an extra charge for room service? I assume you would tip, how much would be appropriate?
DJ

No charge for room service except for sodas or alcohol.

As for tipping, there are no "guidelines" or "suggestions" for room service tipping. My personal suggestions are as follows:

$2 minimum.
$1 for each additional person receiving service.
$1 if all you're getting is coffee or tea.

So you'll want to start saving single dollar bills prior to your cruise.

We did breakfast several mornings on our verandah while our kids watched cartoons inside - very relaxing and every deliver was always on time - the food was simple but perfect. We also order pizza, cookies and salad one afternoon, which was great for a quick bite when the dining rooms were closed.

or You could just get a pack of 100 $1 bills from the bank...
i do that when i go on vacation anyway....for tips...

We hung one of those cards out every night (you find them in the vanity/desk drawer) and breakfast was delivered at the time we asked. We had a verandah room and it was wonderful to be able to sip our morning coffee out there, and have those melt-in-your-mouth croissants! We also ordered one of those cheese trays and it was terrific! Somehow we missed the cookies though, so will look forward to those on our next cruise!! :D
One more thing, we brought a bunch of $2 bills, and used those for tipping. It's great to be able to have room service 24 hours too, but most of the time we were too full to take advantage of it much.

Ooooooh you all are making me VERY hungry... I haven't been on the cruise yet, but I assure you, I will take VERY good advantage of it!!!....just thinking of those disney chicken fingers! YUM!!!

Can't wait to go n the cruise!!

Although I cruised on the Wonder previously, I never took advantage of room service for some reason. Can anyone answer the following for me (actually for my traveling companions who are too timid to post these questions themselves, silly them):

1) Is room service free to all stateroom categories?
2) Does that include coffee, juice?
3) Can the tips be billed to the room, or should cash be used? and
4) What is a standard tip?

Thanks on behalf of Karen and Frank!

We had great tablemates, so we had a hard time justifing room service. We did order cheesecake, a cheese plate/fruit, and I think chili. My wife needed a snack...

;)

Hehe

You all have been busy while I have been gone :D I can actually answer my own question now. We ordered quite a bit of room service and really enjoyed it. We had the late dinner seating so we usually had a snack in the afternoon. We would order several things and just pick and choose between them.

The tomato soup was wonderful and so was the taco salad. The macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers, cheeseburger and cheese plate was very good. The ham and cheese sandwich was not very good and the pb&j was the icky Uncrustables variety. I told you we ordered a lot of room service :)

And special for you AliPom - or should I say your shy friends ;)

1) Is room service free to all stateroom categories? YES
2) Does that include coffee, juice? YES and also milk
3) Can the tips be billed to the room, or should cash be used? and
4) What is a standard tip?

I think you have to pay cash since there is no bill. We always gave a $5 bill for a tip.

It is a shame you never took advantage of the room service. I guess you will just have to take another cruise so you can experience it :)

On behalf of Karen & Frank, thank you so much Fortwilderness! I've told my shy friends that planning a trip to Disney/DCL is like taking a class at the university. 3x the amount of homework to class time, or in this case, Disney Vacation Time. I can't wait to order that cheese tray to go with my carry-on wine. Who knew; we brought cheese and crackers last cruise.

I didn't do my homework and discover the awsome DisBoard last time!:Pinkbounc

AliPom

I am glad to help your shy friends although I wish they would just come and join us on the DisBoards. We are a friendly bunch that would love to help them plan their trip.

What you say about the planning/homework being 3X as long as the trip is so true :) Thank goodness we have these boards so we can help each other out :)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how great the pizza was... last cruise we found it "out of this world"!!! The chicken fingers were great too, along with the cheese!! But, one thing we did not find to be as good as it sounds are the cookies... on our first cruise, they were big and huge, but on our last two cruises we found them to be rather small and burnt. Maybe it was just bad luck. We are going to try them again tho on our upcoimg cruise.... can't wait!!!! :)
