What did you or would you name your cabin, vacation, beach or lake house?

While growing up my family had 2 vacation homes. One in the Florida Keys and one in the UP of Michigan. We never named them though. We just called them the florida place and the up north place.

"The Cottage" was the place we went to for a few years growing up.

Oh, I was thinking silly, not snobby.

We stayed in a beach house in NC named the Honah Lee from the Puff the Magic Dragon song and all the houses were named and come to think of it we stayed in a cabin named Lake Memory at Christmas, and all the homes we've stayed at in Orlando were named.

We used to vacation on Holden Beach in NC every summer. Every house had a name. I always said I wanted to name a house "Flapping Duck"...don't know why - just struck me as funny.

Jenny:)

My dad named our cottage Barefoot Acres. ;)

My IL's live in England and their regular homes have names. My BIL's house is Sliverwood. The name came with the house when they purchased it. My FIL's house has a name, too, but I can't remember it.

Here is a link for house names:) . I think it's a cool idea. I once made a door mat for our house which said cote parc - park house or house by the park in french. We live right across from a park and our yard looks like a jungle because of my cottage style garden. My neighbors call me the Mad Gardener of Willow Branch:rotfl: .

Great website, thanks!

You should post pics of your garden, I'd love to see it. Please don't tell me you live where you can grow Lilacs, I'll be so jealous, mine is 4 yrs old and only 2 ft high here in GA, but it bloomed and smells wonderful!

I don't have a vacation home, but if I did "Ethan and Molly's College Savings" sounds like a nice name. :rotfl2:

A friend's parents were building their retirement/dream home in the woods. The foundation had been poured and to their amazement the moose would come out in the mornings and lick the concrete.

Their home is aptly named: The Moose Lick Lodge

We have a condo at the beach in a building called the Sunsuites. We named ours "Suite Dreams (Are Made of This)" because my husband is a huge Eurythmics fan.

When I got married I had three cats and called our house Twelve Paws--much to my husband's chagrin!

We retired to World Golf Village, St.Augustine Florida and although we did not name our home, every morning we wake up; look out the bedroom window at our pool and the lake beyond (with a few small gators) and call it paradise.

I have a house in a community in the mountains and everyone pretty much names their house..Mine is South Abbey, the name of the street in Ireland my Mom was born.

We have a lake house called The Surf Shack. It really was a shack when we bought it too! Looks much better now that we gutted it and started over!

My place at the lake is named, "Dad's Place" - in honor of my late father - who built it single-handedly from the ground up in 1952.. Many of the places around here have "names".. It's pretty common for the summer folks.. :)
