We have booked a tower room at the Contemporary for Sep. I am so excited :bounce: I can't hardly function :Pinkbounc ...so tell me what will I :lovestruc LOVE  about this resort???

It's my favorite resort and even though I'm now a DVC member, I still convince my DH to stay there!

I love the atmosphere; it feels like the center of Disney. Where all the action is.

It's got the monorail running through it!

It's got great shops and restaurants (Chef Mickey's is a favorite of ours)

It's got great views on either side!

Great, large rooms.

When you are walking to and from your room you can hear Chef Mickey's and feel the magic!

The easy access to everything without having to go outside (monorail, shops, restaurants).

The walk to MK.

The great water sports.

The electric pageant.

The fun center is a big hit with my girls.

The elevators have characters talking when the doors open, or at least they used to...not sure if they still do??

I LOVE CR Tower rooms!

They didn't have talking elevators last week. I do agree it's a great resort. We loved the pool hot tub and being able to see wishes either from your room or on the 4th floor observation deck. Housekeeping did a great job. The rooms are HUGE. The bathrooms have double sinks with lots of counter space and a door that separates the toilet from the sinks and showers. The closets are big. There's a fridge and coffee maker in your room with GOOD coffee. There's also a coffee bar in the lobby that serves REAL coffee and is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., I think. It's so easy to take the monorail over to the Poly and GF to eat.

I was afraid of that. :sad2: That's a shame. After our trip last August when I didn't hear them, I wrote them a letter about a few things both positive and negative and mentioned that. A CM called me and she said it should be a temporary thing but she wasn't sure. Well, I guess it's a perminent thing. :(

The spaciousness of tthe rooms!@

The whimsical decor!

The private balconies

Seeing all of Wishes with music from your balcony/bed, even!

Very nice CM's

Great mousekeeping!

Super arcade!

Everything under one roof!

Looking at it from a ride on MK and thinking, "hey, there's my room!" ( I personally LOVE to do that!)

Well...where to begin....

the ABSOLUTE best is lying in bed, falling asleep as you watch the castle change colors in the distance....

sitting on the balcony watching the ferry and boats go back and forth across the lake while you sip your morning coffee

watching the fireworks from your balcony in your jammies!!

hopping on the monorail at the MK when it is 95 degrees in the shade and knowing you will be in your nice cool room in about 3 minutes pulling a cold soda out of your fridge

spending a rainy afternoon in the arcade with the kids

wandering thru the shops in the evening

hanging over the railing to watch the festivities at Chef Mickeys

hopping on the boat to Ft Wilderness for breakfast at Trails End

There are LOTS more...but it makes me too homesick to think of them all!!

We love the CR! It's got the location, the transportation and Chef Mickeys. My kids think its where Mickey lives ::MickeyMo You can't beat walking to MK in the morning and in the evening when the crowds are leaving you just walk home.

We love the Contemporary and will be checking in on April 29th for a week. It has a nice view (if you get a good room) and has nice access to transportation via the monorail... this should come in especially handy for us this year since we'll be traveling with our 10 month old. Oh, and the ability to just walk to/from MK is an added bonus. :)

We love staying on the club level because of the view... here are some shots from our last vacation there...

Did you request a certain view(MK or Bay Lake)?? No its not guaranteed but putting a request is better than not.

After reading all the posts I want to go. LOL I was just there last week. Stayed at WL and loved it. But CR Tower was awesome when we were there on Memorial Day'04

When we stayed last year transportation was key for us with a 5 year old and a 6 month old. The Contemporary was great for that. We walked to MK a few time and being only a single stop away from MK via the monorail was great when coming back for mid-day naps! Easy access to Epcot was nice too. We did visit the other parks and bus service was fair. Not real timely but never full (always got a seat). We had the best standard tower room you can get (IMO). We were 11th floor, end room closest to MK on the MK side (room 4748) and couldn't have had a better view of the fire works anywhere else.

We are trying a split stay this year AKL/POLY and hope we will not be disappointed. Hope you have a great time at the CR.

Oh my gosh -- everything that is mentioned in this thread are things I would have said!

Tower rooms are roomy, colorful and have an awesome view. The balcony is great in the early morning and also at night. It is so magical to sit and watch MK! I love, love, love tower rooms!!! :flower:

We have requested a MK view...I am praying we get my DD who is 5 wants to wake up to Cindy castle everymorning. I am hoping that September will not be too crowded and we will get the requested view.

Thanks for all of the info....you have given me goosebumps.......can't wait!

We stayed at the CR for DD's 5th birthday (at the end of Daddy's business trip) vacation. We requested an MK view and mentioned that it was DD's birthday. The CM at check-in was literally so excited to tell us about the beautiful view we were about to see! When I opened the curtains and looked out the door, I actually screamed (a little  ) - it was the most spectacular view of the MK I have ever beheld...here it is...

I will never forget that view.

What we liked:
The View of MK, especially at night
The monorail coming right through the middle
Looking down into the center of the hotel and all of the hubbub of activity
Walking to the MK
The fact it's one of WDW first resorts - staying in a classic
Room size
Great bathroom
Enjoyed it far more than the Poly - that felt dark and somewhat claustraphobic. CR was open, light filled, uplifting.

We stayed in the tower for the first time in December of '03. It was wonderful!

The room was very large and the decor was fun. Loved the bathroom with the separate toilet area.

We had a Magic Kingdom view that was wonderful!

It was great being able to hop on the monorail and go over to lunch at Kona Cafe (that's what we did while waiting for our room to be ready).

I really enjoyed being able to walk back to the resort after MVMCP instead of waiting for the bus.

We got to see Wishes every night from our room and watching the special MVMCP ones with the fireworks over the lake was awesome!

Got to see the Electrical Light Pagent which is one of my all time favorites.

We totally enjoyed it and I can see doing it again.

It was room #4742 on the 11th floor (I couldn't remember the # so I looked up some old posts to find it!). Seeing the fireworks from the balcony was spectacular - I hope you get just as lucky!

:sunny:

P.S. - The odd-numbered rooms have the bed facing the MK - you can lie in bed and see the castle!

Thank you so much for that info I am hoping to get that room or at least one near it. Thanks for your hard work!!!
