What did you bake today ? OK if not from scratch

I was planning to get one kind of cookie done today but had a canning situation which resulted in me deep cleaning the kitchen. Tomorrow is another day.

Wow! Did that make a loud noise when it broke? I used to love to can every fall. Is that canned tomatoes? I used to can tomatoes, but for sauce, I would freeze. Pickles were the main thing I froze, using pickling cucumbers I'd grown. Fortunately I never had a jar break.

I heard it pop and knew exactly what happened. I’ve had it happen a few times over the years. I was turning tomatoes I canned this summer into sauce. It was a huge mess!

You guys are all amazing bakers!
I only made 2 pumpkin pies with home made crusts. However, I can't seem to get the crust edges to look nice? But the pies were good.
I took a piece of pie to my Mom's apartment and dropped it (it was on a glass plate) and broke the plate and all. Then I tried a few days later with another pie and promptly dropped 2 more pieces while getting on the elevator!!! No glass this time, just plastic, but one pie piece was crushed!!!
I give up on pumpkin pies for a while:)

A break from cookie baking, hope to get a couple more kinds done tomorrow.
I defrosted the chest freezer in the garage instead

And cleaned the little freezer in the outside refrigerator because something had leaked and everything was sticky.

@LoveDaisy- all of your cookies look wonderful. The variety looks perfect together on your tray.

I’ve been trying to make and freeze dough whenever I get a chance the last two weeks, as I’ve been busy working or driving kids around CT for ice hockey games/practice. This weekend will be nothing but baking all of the dough I’ve frozen. I don’t even know what I’ve made at this point.

Question- I'm thinking about starting my cookie baking this weekend and I want to try something a little bit different this year with one my standard doughs. I always have mixed results with cookie cutters. Have any of you tried silicone molds as an alternative? I'm thinking I need to lightly spray the molds with something like Bakers Joy or even just a dusting of cornstarch. Thoughts? I plan to fill the molds with chocolate melts and decorative holiday sprinkles/sanding sugars and then reinsert the cooled/cooked cookies so that they get a chocolate coating with more of the actual pattern. I've been successful with making hot cocoa bombs in previous years, so I at least have some similar experience with the chocolate angle. FWIW, I plan on using my (actually, it's Ina Garten's) shortbread dough recipe. So, it's a super firm dough that does not usually spread.

Still, just wondering if anyone has had any successes or tips for going the mold angle. TIA :)

@TiggerTrigger I have not tried silicone molds for making cookies. I have used them to make chocolates and for those I sprayed well with non stick spray and had decent success. I struggled a bit with small detailed pieces.

Can I ask what issue you are having with sugar cookies? Are they spreading? I have good success with making and rolling my sugar cookie dough then cutting with a cookie cutter then chilling on my cookie sheets before baking. If the dough and pans are really cold I get less spreading with the cookies.

Can you report back? I’d love to hear how it works. I’m always looking for new ideas.
