What did you bake today ? OK if not from scratch

I made sugar cookies and dairy free chocolate oatmeal cookies from scratch as well as 2 chocolate cream pies, and a blueberry cobbler. I also made a quiche and granola from scratch. We sent the pies and 2/3 of the cookies to our 2 DS's and their families. My DDIL let the 2 year old who has the dairy allergy eat as many cookies as he wanted all day Christmas Eve day. He didn't go to sleep until after midnight as he was hyper between the chocolate and the sugar. Lesson learned! LOL!

Yes, the lemon ones had the plain red coarse sugar.

Our recipe is chicken scratch, but this one is about the same, and much prettier to post.

Once the dough was finished, DH separated it into two, then added the anise in on half in the mixer, then did the same for the lemon, cleaning out the mixer in between. He also uses milk instead of water for the glaze, and used salted butter instead of no salt butter with salt added as an ingredient.

I love these cookies, they‘re a family tradition for us. I can’t usually buy them in stores, though, because I find them too sweet. These ones aren’t overly sweet, though. They’re just good. :lovestruc

I forgot to mention that the way my mom or my mil made them Lemon cookies - was to make the glaze with a few drops of lemon rather than water or milk. :)

It would be interesting to do it both ways to see which way you like better. Or whether anyone would notice! :p

Oh, I should make some lemonade or limeade cookies! DH and DS love those....

Today, I made a (from scratch, which I never do) eggnog pound cake, with a bourbon pecan brown sugar glaze, and eggnog bourbon ice cream. Waiting for everything to cool, so I can pour the glaze over the cake, and then put the eggnog in the ice cream freezer. I am really hoping it turns out well, lol.

The cake was fine, but a bit dry, I think from overbaking, as I was trying to get a thick bundt cake to bake all the way through. :( The pecan topping was even better, but the star was the ice cream. Eggnog and bourbon, so perfect together....

I think I'm going to bake some biscuits to eat with our pork chops tonight.
I have some bananas that are getting brown, so I may bake some banana muffins tomorrow.

I made 2 large combination pizzas. I have gotten very quick with pizza making during the pandemic since we aren't doing takeout; probably faster than ordering one. I used to have to look at a recipe for the dough, but I've been making it twice a month or so now, so I have it all memorized.

Nothing today but tomorrow I'm making a box-mix angel food cake to use in a "lite" trifle for NYE dinner. I make it with angel food, lemon curd and fresh fruit instead of pound cake, custard and jam. It's very pretty in the bowl and goes down a little easier after a heavy, festive meal.

I made a two+ months worth of Meatballs baked and put in the freezer. Does that count.
That definitely counts! I often do that late summer/early fall when the herbs in my garden are plentiful. I really like having meatballs in the freezer for a quick, easy dinner that’s also homemade. I freeze mine raw though and cook them when I’m ready to use them.
