What did they do to search? AHHH!

Okay, I used to be excellent at finding things using the search feature here on DIS. They changed it when the boards were down the other night. Now, I can't seem to get results for anything... not even just bringing up all posts by a single user.

Ex: I click search. I click "advanced." I type "Disney Dreams" in username and set the date to "any date" and hit enter. It brings up zero threads.

Anyone have any clues? Thanks!

P.S. I know lots of people could not get the old search feature to work how they wanted. Please don't use this thread to just post that. Thanks!

I suspect you are correct across the board. At the risk of recycling the past this forum is the only one I have ever been on that has had so much trouble with Search. It was a huge issue for many years and then they got it fixed a few years ago. Then it started breaking down again in recent months. I have taken to subscribing to way more threads than normal just so I can back and find them. I too tried to search for other posts by users (just yesterday) and had no search results.

I'm having the same issue. I can't get anything with the search at all, yesterday I was able to click on my name in the upper right corner and find my previous posts to find the thread I was looking for but now today that isn't bringing up any of my info, just a blank page.... on my computer, on my phone I can still pull up my info and find my previous posts.

And it looks like the search is also working on my phone. I wonder if it is an issue that is only affecting windows or internet explorer?

I'm able to use the search just fine. But I'm on a Mac using Safari.

The search function wont work for me either, i've tried internet explorer and firefox.

Also, is anybody else having an issue with the quik reply button?

when i click on the quik reply button, it either quotes the previous poster, or gives the message, "Please click one of the Quick Reply icons in the posts above to activate Quick Reply"

If you listen the podcast they have said that they have been having major troubles with the server. They are switching to a new company. In the meantime, another mod posted on the podcast forum (I think) that odd things have been happening lately. Like I kept getting warnings that I didn't open a new socket when I posted a reply! Last I heard, it was end of April when they were switching. So maybe this search on/off problem is just part of that continuing mess.

It isn't just windows. It won't work on my mac with safari either. I also can't pull up anybody's profiles.

Yup, as soon as all the changes are done things are supposed to get much faster and easier. So with a little patience we will hopefully have some better and cooler features soon. I am looking forward to the search working better as well because there are a couple of old threads I am looking for and can't find

As many of you have noticed we are having some technical difficulties. I'll do a bigger blog post with details when I have more time but basically we had some database corruption and the current server is too slow and small to do a data repair. The database restore took 11 hours.
We were getting ready to move it anyway so we will just accelerate the process.
The Boards will go down at 5pm Eastern, tomorrow Saturday 4/14. It will be down for at least 6-8 hours as we move it.

Yup having search engine trouble on all boards. There's a thread on the Technical forum that people have been having search troubles since 4/6.

Just use Google. You can direct Google to only include search results from this domain.

I have to log in twice. I will be logged in but it tells me that I have 5 trys or whatever and prompts me to log in again. No big deal it lets me on and i don't mind being patient for a better board!!

I actually don't even have the search feature anymore when I log in!
