What did I do wrong....

I did the iron on transfers this weekend,they looke pretty good till I washed it and the designed looked like I balled it up in a ball. What did I do?

I guess I need to know if you washed it before you applied the transfer and if you did, did you use fabric softner? You needed to wash it first without fabric softner..Also, did you iron it long enough? You needn't wash it after you ironed it on..what type transfer did you use? light or dark fabric iron on? Give me a better description please and maybe I can help you a little better. Sorry to have that happen.

I did not wash it first. I ironed it on using dark transfer paper. It looked good just a little thick feeling(the transfer). I wore it and then I washed it. I did not use fabric softener liquid but I did use a dryer sheet. It is still on firmly it just looks like it came out of the rag bag.

My guess and it's only a guess, is that something is wrong with the transfer or even the dryer sheet...Do you think you could try ironing it inside out and maybe it will smooth out? Sorry I have no other ideas for you..

Your shirt may have shrunk after washing and caused the transfer to ball up. I don't have any experience with the transfers but it just sounds like that could be the reason. Try the ironing idea, that may help. Good luck!

This happens to us with some shirts we have bought from stores. It's weird!
