A co-worker of my husband's says that you can purchase a Seasonal Pass to the parks as a DVC owner. I was looking at this online and it says you have to have proof of FL residency (which makes sense). Can you actually do this or is he a "story teller"?

This is what is on the disney website:
Proof of Florida residency is required -- you must provide any one of the following:
* Florida driver's license
* Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)
* Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID
* A college ID for a Florida college
* Florida-based military ID

Ownership of a timeshare in Florida does not make you a Florida resident as you can't use that address to obtain any of the above.

They could allow this if they wanted but the DVC legal paperwork specifically states that DVC members are not FL residents and are not entitled to perks or discounts related.

Could you imagine? 400,000 new FL residents!

Not sure about a Florida seasonal pass, but I believe that after the DVC discount an AP is close to the same price as a Florida annual pass.

It would be nice if he were talking about the annual pass but he was most definately talking about the seasonal pass. His "problem" is he hears something and doesn't do research to assure what he has heard. Then he turns around and tells gullible people (my DH) and then I have to be the bad guy when I do the research and tell my hubby that he, once again was telling false information. Thanks guys, I can always depend on getting the answer from all of you.

There's still a pretty big difference given the Seasonal pass is around $225 at AAA. The only benefit you don't get (other than the black out periods) is free parking but you get that if staying on site anyway.

Yep. You save a whopping $5 with the DVC discount!

It doesn't matter what he's talking about. The requirements for both are the same and he's not eligible for either.
