DH and I are planning a trip for next June, and we thought we would travel Sat to Sat, but then I noticed that the airlines give better deals if you travel on a weekday. What is your favorite travel day, and why?

Another consideration is that we will have a 2 year old ds, so the less crowds to travel, the better! ;)

Thanks for your help!

Going May 19-26

We are flying in on a Thursday morning!
Thurs-Arrive at MCO at 10am, do whatever till 5, Chef Mickeys, Fantasmic
Fri-Universal
Sat-Rest day!/Do whatever
Sun-Weds Disney Parks
Thurs-Hit DTD, the pool one last time Fly out of MCO at 8:00 p.m.
Frid-Took off work!
Mon-Memorial Day/off work
Tues-WISHING I WAS BACK AT DISNEY!!! :badpc:

I attempt to get airplane tickets for a Weekday. Monday is usually good for flying too Orlando from Vancouver as there are not alot of business people traveling that day. Usually on Monday the plane is less than half full.
Thursday or Friday is the day I like to fly home, again because few business people are traveling.
Never on a weekend, just too crowded and hectic.

I arrive TODAY!! :cool1:  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Sorry, I'm a little excited! :) But we are leaving today (Monday) and coming home on Friday. Just a quick little spur of the moment trip. We chose those days due to airfare being more reasonable and non-stop.

Something else to consider is that Saturday is the busiest check-in day--at least this is what the frazzled front desk CM at WL told me. He said you have a much better chance of getting the room you want (or an upgrade) if you check in on a weekday. Not sure if others will agree, but it does seem to fit with our experiences at various WDW hotels.

Hi!

We arrive on Tuesday, June 28 and leave Thursday, July 7th - it is cheaper to fly during the week and I'm hoping check-in will be less crowded.

Can't wait!

We have 3 DDs, so we try to avoid crowds & high prices any way possible! Flying in Fri am, and leaving Mon (the second Mon) gives us the benefit of two full weekends at WDW, plus a half day upon arrival... It is the least amount of time off work with the biggest amt of time spent at Disney. I always start work the date we return or the day after. The airports are still crowded, but not as much. We also like to hit MK first thing (after check-in and lunch), and I think Sat would be more crowded if we were to try to start our trip off then.

We are travelling on a Thursday (cheaper flights during the weekdays). I have a dd3, and this will be her first time on a plane, I sure hope she does alright.

We usually leave on a Friday or Saturday and return on a Sunday. It just works best for DH's work schedule.

Not sure if you're staying for a week, but if you are, perhaps the cost savings of flying on a Wed don't outweigh the cons. Sure, it's cheaper and check-in wouldn't be as crowded, but you also are taking 5-6 days off work and don't have the weekends to prepare and/or recover (a big factor if both parents work). Fly back on Wed and it's back to work the next day. That isn't something I enjoy doing.

We decided for our trip this Dec to go Sun morn to Fri night. This also lends itself well to renting DVC points because Fri and Sat nights are VERY expensive. And we're there during the week where the crowds are less. Another perk is that we have part of the weekend before our trip and the entire weekend after our trip to prepare/recover. Of course, travelling right before Christmas impacted that.

I guess everyone has their own needs. Hope that helps you determine yours.

We leave on what ever day we can get the best deal. When we drive we often stop at a friends house for the weekend so we arrive on Mon. This yr we are flying and arriving Wed. and leaving Wed.

Thanks so much for your replies- this is really helping me decide. Taking off work is not an issue for us, since Dh and I both work at a high school, and it is our summer vacation then. I do think maybe going on a weekday will work better for us, because we want it to be the least crowded for ds, who will be flying for the first time. Now all we have to do is figure out how long we want to stay, and we can look at some dates!

Thanks for all your help- there were lots of great points brought up! :flower:

This time we are going Sat to Sat. In December we went Wed to Wed.

Southwest just had good flights and prices this time around for Sat to Sat so we jumped on it.

We usually go from Saturday to Saturday. My airfare is the same no matter the day of the week.

Since we use SWA Ding fares, there isn't a certain day we travel to get a cheap fare since Ding fares let you go on any day within a certain time period for the same amount. So ours is based on randomness. :rotfl: For our honeymoon, we arrived on a Sunday (our wedding was on a Saturday). We did that the following year as well. In 2003 and 2004 we arrived on a Thursday since we were there for Star Wars Weekends. This year we'll be arriving on a Wednesday. We just randomly picked that one...not quite sure why actually. LOL Actually I like arriving on a Sunday...mainly because I fee like I have a longer time there as opposed to arriving on a day that makes me feel it's a weekend trip. All in the mind, I guess.
