What day do you normally arrive in the "world?

Trying to plan my October trip. I want be there more weekdays then weekends but still be there on at least a Friday night to attend 3D Desserts. Is a Tues-Sat or a Wednesday to Monday better?

We typically arrive in Orlando on a Tuesday and then stay the night somewhere be it a value or the Hyatt at the airport. We don't like to lose a day to travel since we are coming from the west coast. This makes our first full day a Wednesday and we always go to Epcot that day.

Tues-Saturday means you only have to pay the higher weekend rate for Friday. Depending on your resort, you could save quite a bit. Also, not flying on a Monday might save you some money too. Business travelers like flying on Mondays and Fridays.

We do it based on a combination of flight prices and getting the most out of the number of days I can take off work, but Thursdays seem to be the favorite as a travel day for us 3 years running now.

Based on room rates, a Tuesday to Saturday means only one weekend night at the higher rate. We love Sunday night EMH at MK though so all things considered I'd have gone for the second option and checked out on the Monday

We are arriving on a Monday on our next trip. But we've done long weekends with a Wed/Thurs arrival (leaving Sunday).

We almost always fly in on a Sat or Sun, and leave a week later on a Sat or Sun. Often more expensive, but we like to use the two weekends to maximize our trip as we usually only take 5 days off work.

This year we are doing Monday to Monday
We lucked out and got a flight that arrives at 8:20am and our return home flight doesn't leave until 6:30pm so we will get park time on both of our travel days.

Honestly, with the way prices are anymore at Disney and in general, we usually plan our trip and then adjust our arrival/departure around the cheapest airfare we find in that general time frame. That usually mean midweek arrivals and departures but not always.

We always used to arrive as early as possible on a Saturday morning and then fly out as late as possible nine days later on Sunday night. However, for the last year or so, my mom has been going with us, so we don't get near as much done. Consequently we've started flying out on the first flight Friday morning, then flying home eleven days later on Monday afternoon/evening.

We arrive on a Friday and leave on a Saturday to give us a bit more than a full week. This year our Saturday flight is at 5 so we get a good part of the day before we leave. Then we have Sunday to regroup before back to school and work.

Can't wait until retirement...we will drive at our leisure and enjoy the road trip. But right now we fly so that we have more time at the world. I never thought about timing stays to avoid the higher weekend rates...we will need to do that some day.

Seriously... I have gone on many trips and I think I have arrived on each day of the week.

We like to arrive midweek - usually on Wednesday and then fly out on Monday or Tuesday. The flights are cheaper and it makes up for the little bit extra cost for the higher weekend rate. Plus, the Magical Express is less crowded, check in is less crowded, our luggage seems to get to our room sooner, and the parks are less crowded then on a Saturday.

We made the mistake of flying in on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it was such a hassle. The lines for the Magical Express were halfway down the terminal. It took an hour to get out of the airport. And our luggage didn't arrive for five hours. When we travel on a weekday it is there really quickly.

We normally leave on a Monday (usually takes about 8 hours to fly to Orlando, including stopover). I don't want to waste a vacation day from work doing the last minute stuff (I'd rather spend an extra day at the World!), so I leave that for the weekend and our flight always leaves at 6 am on Monday.

This year, we leave Tuesday morning at 6 because we are getting married on Saturday, and Monday is the Thanksgiving holiday, so Tuesday is the first business day of the week.

In your case, I think Tues-Saturday is better to avoid park crowds, but depending on whether you are flying or driving, just remember that flights generally cost more on a Saturday.

Usually we arrive on Thurs morning and stay for 8 park days. The last few times we flew home the 2nd Friday. this Oct it's Sat making it a 9 park day trip. We debated putting our luggage with bell service and staying all day Sat. getting a room at MCO and flying out Sun but we like a day to de-compress before heading back to the salt mines on Mon so decided against it. This month we snuck in a Sun to Fri trip because the Southern cities we planned to visit still had Northern weather. The dates were dictated by the fact that we drove from Pa, something we'll never do again.

It always depends on airfare and work/school schedules. This year we are driving up to Indy on Thurs night just as soon as youngest DS is finished with his last college final. We will stay overnight and our flight leaves out at 6AM-we'll be in Orlando by 8:15 Friday morning. We have a late flight out the next week on Saturday-so 8 nights for us. The early arrival and late departure really helps us to feel like we are getting the most out of our time.
