What crowd were you in High School?

I think I belonged to a clique of two--my sister and I. And we weren't that close, lol. Actually we stood out like a sore thumb because of the way we dressed and it was hard to fit in with anybody except the stoners who would accept anyone into their group. Since I in no way related to the stoners lifestyle it really wasn't the place for me either. It seems so stupid now because I finally found that in real life it doesn't matter if you wear dresses everyday and don't cut your hair, people will accept you and respect you if you just open up and be yourself. Ugghhh, if I only knew in high school what I know today! lol. I would have had a much more enjoyable time! My dd has handled the situation much better than I did but as my mom always says "Ashli has more guts than Jesse James". Anyway she seems to have learned that if you open up and be friendly you will have lots friends.

I was part of two groups that had a lot of overlap. The brainiacs and the band. :)

Overall I was really just an average person and not a part of any clique but I just happened to have most of my friends in those two "categories" because I spent most of my time in honors classes or at band functions. You are friends with the people you spend lots of time with.

I was in the so called "invisible group"..We were the kids who did not get in trouble, did not dress weird, didn't do drugs or drink, went to Church and did our homework, worked on all sorts of committees and got no credit for anything we did..as we were not cool, did not date (though not for lack of wanting too), and would not have been missed if we did not show up for school for a year or so....

We had fun in our own group, but that was about it, other than that high school was not the highlight of my life. If we show up for the reunions we are the ones..no one remembers, or thought we were in the class behind us or had moved away before we graduated....yup, nothing changes, once an Invisible always an Invisible.

well, you might remember that i was a Navy brat....and when i started 9th grade it was the 9th school in my career !

But back when I was in 3rd grade my parents bought a house ( their first ) in a part of Oxnard that was kind of a middle class barrio. So I happeded to stay put long enough to go to these local schools for 3rd and 4th grade.
When we retired we moved back into our house in time for me to start HS.
Half of our HS was very wealth kids from Camarillo, half from where I lived. So.......I was in class with all of the rich kids, but had been childhood friends with a lot of the "gang" type kids....and being the BRAT that i was i got along with all ! Also because they didn't have my transcripts when I got to school, I was put in the BASIC tract for the first semester of my freshman year, so I bonded with the loadies by letting them copy my work ( which took me 10 minutes to complete ). So I easily went between all statas in my HS and genuinely liked people from every group.

Also, I was an editor of the yearbook, so people were always nice to me, especially when i had a camera in my hand !

lol, well im still in high school..but, the group im in is weird..and I love it..Ive been to the popular side, and I left cuz I didnt like it...me and my friends goal is to be as weird as possible..we like to make people be like what? we get really good grades, dont do drugs, and dress weird. I love my friends, we've been best friends for a few years..i love them so much. I for one...would die if I was in the popular group, cuz they care too much..i dont care If people like me, or think im a freak, ill never see them again after high school..so who cares?

Jock and the in-crowd by association. My best friend was voted Most Popular and my other best friend was voted Most Congenial. My BF was just telling me how hard it was to be most popular because she had to be nice to everyone and she was jealous of me because I didn't do that. To which I said unsympathetically "Awwwwwwwwwww too bad, poor popular girl!"

hmm....

well all my friends are in band and in honor classes...so we are probably consider geeks
but i love my friends! :)

Actually I wasn't in a crowd. My graduating class was small and we actually knew each other more or less from grade school. I guess if you had to put me in a group it was the brainy ones, but we were not the in crowd. I agree with the earlier post about invisible. I too was on the year book staff and assistant editor of the paper. In lots of things but never known for anything.

I was part of the quiet crowd, that could get away with stuff without getting noticed. Leaving school grounds, forging excuse blanks...ah those were the days!;)

I was a cheerleader..I cheered all throughout middle school, and my freshman year of high school..not making it was the best thing that ever happened to me...dont get me wrong I liked cheering..but im not like the other cheerleaders at my school: slutty, stuck up, and popular...I dont even miss it. I hated having to do things with the cheerleaders, I like my life a lot better w/o cheering..plus i have a whole lot of free time.

I was one of those who fit in every group, but belonged to none. I hung out with pretty much everyone. Labels are for cans & I didn't define myself by affiliations.

I never really fit into a crowd. I was friends with nerds, jocks, stoners, cheerleaders...anyone. If they were cool, they were a friend.

HA-HA! these are fun to read!
I went to a Catholic HS - I was in the "folk Mass" group. I was always in the chorus for the musicals. I referred to these as my "G&R" days - my kids asked "Guns & Roses?" - I reply with "no, groovy & relevant"!

I didn't belong to any groups, high school or college. I always just had a couple of good friends and that was it.:D

I was a geek in denial. I knew the geeks in passing, but hung out with the cheerleaders and drama kids. Today, the only people I still keep in contact with are the former geeks who I see at business and social functions.

:p :p :p :p .........

I hated school. Grade school as well as HS. I was small for my age, honest and not sure of myself. There were cliques in both schools and they really kept me out of them. I was teased somewhat but for the most part it was mostly being ignored and not welcomed to sit or be with anyone. Even the one friend I had left me when she got a boyfriend who was invited to parties. I don't and didn't drink, smoke or do drugs. As a matter of fact I didn't even know there were drugs in my school until years later. Seems silly but I think everyone was afraid of what I would do if I knew and going to school in the early seventies there were drugs.
School has no happy thoughts for me.

Band Geek and proud of it. We were one of the top HS marching bands in the state, I didn't play and instrument though I was part of the pagentry unit. The 2 years I was in we went to Hawaii (1987) and we marched down Main ST at Disneyland(1988) . But most important of alll I met my DH in band and this year we will be married 14 years.

I was actually in two groups. The band music group and the burnouts. It was a very interesting combination.
