What CROCS did for me!!

I just bought the Payless knock off today and the sales clerk had no idea what was so great about them :D

Anyway, for those who have tried both, how do they compare? The Payless version feels really cheap -- do the Crocs feel that way?

I thought they were comfortable, but I was feeling some knee and hip pain after walking around the grocery store. Oh, and I really need for my feet to get used to them because I feel a blister starting where the rivet is.

Well now here is a first! I love my CROCS; however, the last two days that I wore them a lot, by the end of the day, my lower back hurt more than ever! I thought it was a fluke one day, but when it happened the next day, it drew my attention. I can't for the life of me imagine why. These things are sooo comfortable. Any suggestions or ideas? :confused3
As much as everyone loves these shoes  , they're definitely not for everyone. I can't wear them for more than a couple of hours a day, and definitely NOT on rougher terrain (cobbles, gravel, uneven lawn). My ankles are weak, and Crocs offer no stability. Yeah, they feel great, and after a day of working in a garden center, I love to come home and slip them on...I treat them like slippers, or shoes to throw on for errands. And I must be one of the very few who think they're CUTE! I'll bring them to WDW, but won't use them for my heavy walking days, just the water park, specialty cruises, and strolling around my resort and DTD.

This is a really good example I think of how everyone is different! My experiences have been that they make my back feel better--seeing how I am on the verge of having surgery! For me they make everything work better and I can walk in them all day--where as any other shoe would lay me up--So you really have to do what is right for you. Maybe lay off of them for a few day and try again, after all it isn't shoes always that make our backs hurt--it could have been something random. Good Luck.

I confess, I also find them cute and kinda funky and I love all those pretty colors! I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one!

Do tell...where???

The Grasshopper Shoppes here in Maine. It's a local store, very eclectic merchandise and every April they have a "Treat your Feet" sale.... all footwear 25% off.

I want to get White Crocs, some blue leggings and body suit, a white dress and hat, yellow wig and be Smurfette for Halloween. I think the Crocs look like Smurf feet!! :rotfl2:

Thanks, dchef and UrsulasShadow. I hope it is just a random thing. I will give them a rest for a few days and try again. I don't notice it when I wear them for short periods of time, just for several hours at a time. But I really do like them. I really want to wear them to WDW in September. :flower:

And hey, dchef, good luck on your surgery! Don't forget . . . we are all here for you! :sunny:

Well, luckly if I keep exercising I won't need it. But the surgeon just told me it would be the next step if I didn't start to take care of the problem now-So I am working on that! Crocs help my back a lot..I just need that extra padding --interesting since I have so much elsewhere. LOL. Okay I can't get my goodies/smilies on the right side to work when I click.

I worked as a surgical sales rep for bariatric surgeries and I can ASSURE you, by your picture, you don't have "so much elsewhere". ;)

Keep those exercises up, my dear! Good thing your surgeon appears to really spell out your possible road ahead and how to divert in the right places to keep surgery away. Here's some pixie dust coming to you! :flower:

I have a friend who went to WDW when she was in high school (many, many years ago ;) ), and when I made the mistake of telling her this was our first trip, I started getting all kinds of "great" advice. You know the kind I mean.

This morning at the kids' bus stop, I showed her my new shoes and she went on and on about how I couldn't possibly wear those to the parks and that when she went, they had to take some of the kids to the hospital because they wore sandals to the park. :rotfl2:

Say it isn't so!!! :earseek:

... black for formal occasions, of course! Love them!

This is pretty sad, but....

I have to admit that I went out to a nice dinner (Flatz - upscale restaurant at the local Renaissance Hotel) wearing black pinstriped trousers, silk shirt, silk blazer AND my black highlanders. I think I am well on my way to developing an addiction

Could we please start a DIS chapter of CA (Crocs Anonymous)?

I'll start:
(Standing) Hi, I'm Michele and I am addicted to Crocs.

Just had to share this Croc Sighting - It was pretty hysterical

Where: Local High School Swim Meet
Who: Approximately 40 Male High School Swimmers
Details: I went to a high school swim meet. One of the opposing team's colors were black and yellow. Imagine a long bench on the edge of a pool with approximately 40 high school males, all sitting side-by-side, and all wearing their black speedos and Bright Yellow Crocs. :cool1:

I just wished I had my camera so I could have shared with all the Croc enthusiasts on this board.

Dchef -

Here's hoping you can stay away from the surgeon. Keep wearing those crocs! Pixie Dust coming your way.

Marseeya,
I can vouch that they can and should be worn at the parks. At least by those that are comfortable in them. I have made many, many trips to both WDW and USF. Our last 3 trips - each 6 days in length - all within the past year and a half (August, August, December) - I have worn my Crocs exclusively. I packed my sneakers, but never pulled them out of the suitcase. The crocs were just too comfortable and practical. They dried immediately when they got wet, they were light and the holes made them cool. I chose to wear them without socks - even the December trip where one day got down into the 40's. My feet stayed toasty warm in the cold and cool and refreshed in the hot August heat and humidity. My 3 kids and husband also wore theirs for the majority of the time. AND none of them ended up in the hospital due to blisters. :earseek:

Hope this helps!

Are the sides of the shoes touching your feet? I haven't seen the Payless version, so I can't speak to them, but the original Crocs don't usually touch your feet where the rivets are. That is the beauty of them - they are wide, but the footbed sort of molds to your foot to give you the stability you need. It almost sounds like the Payless knockoffs are much narrower than Crocs. Anybody else find this?

Since I now have one of each of the Beach and Cayman models, I thought I'd post something I found interesting -- the Beach model fits me much better than the Caymans! I originally ordered Caymans because from what I read on http://www.crocs.com I thought the Caymans would be a better fit. I wear either a 6-1/2 or 7 depending on the shoe, so I ordered size 7. Even though I was expecting them to be wide (which I don't mind as I have wide feet) they were bigger overall than I expected, even in the heel area, which leaves a bit more wiggle room than I would like. But I was pretty sure size 6 would be too small so I kept these and figured they would eventually conform to my feet and be just fine.

A week or two later, I happened to find the Beach model Crocs in a local store. I found the Small (womens 6-7) fit really well. They didn't have the color I wanted so I ordered a pair of Pink Beach in size small. They arrived this week and they are GREAT! They are narrower at the heel than the size 7 Caymans and slightly narrower at the front too but about the same length. They feel much more comfortable than the Caymans.

I'm thrilled because the Beach model is $10 cheaper than the Cayman model so I can afford to buy another pair! :cool1:

OK - I've joined the Croc bandwagon!

Since I was having trouble finding them locally, I mail ordered a pair of Red Niles (Small). While I was waiting for those to come, I accidently found the Beach Crocs at my local Hallmark! I had run in for a 40th birthday card for my best friend (I needed to retaliate since my 40th was in January!) and I vaguely remembered someone mentioning on this thread that a "few" Hallmark stores had Crocs. This isn't a particularly large or special Hallmark store so I hadn't expected it to have them, but I figured I'd just keep an eye out as I walked through the store. Well, would you believe there was a rack of them and they had 4 different colors in Small? They were $29.99, but I had a $5 off coupon they had handed me at the door as I walked in! ($5 off purchase of $25 or more). I bought the Pink! That was last Thursday, so I have worn those for a few days and today, the Red Niles arrived so I have 2 pairs of Crocs now!

So far, I am very happy with them. I usually wear athletic shoes with orthotics (Foot Levelers - special order via my chiropractor) and can really tell the difference when I wear something else (like sandals, flats, pumps, etc). So far, the Crocs are MUCH better than any of the other shoes I have tried. I'm not sure they are as good as my athletic shoes with orthotics since my feet tend to roll inward and I don't think the Crocs are helping that too much - but it is SO NICE to be able to wear something else for a while.

I will be taking them to WDW on Wednesday and will try them out there. Since we always go back to the hotel for a mid-afternoon rest, I am thinking of seeing if I can wear my regular shoes 1/2 day and Crocs the other 1/2. It would be so nice to wear a sandal (or even the Beach) and let my feet breathe a little bit.

Hey, you guys let us know if you actually do receive your Niles in the next few days!

We leave in a couple weeks. And, I do not want to order if they will not arrive before then.

On Stairwaytodenim, it looks like they have the original Niles-sized S-M-L, but on Sahalie it shows the whole sizes 5-6-7-8..... Hhhhmmm????

Thanks!

Well I received my Niles from Stairwaytodenim. Ordered them on 4/13, they shipped on 4/13 and took 3 business days from Michigan to Dallas to get here. Wearing my new Pearl White Niles Size M 8/9. :cool1:

I can't speak for the Payless variety but in my Crocs brand I had a blister just starting to form under the rivet after my second day of wearing them. However, it wasn't so bad that it hadn't pretty much healed up overnight and they haven't bothered me since! Don't know why they would start just that one day....it's weird. Maybe they conformed better to my feet after that, I don't know. But so far I'm blister-less *knocks on wood* which is quite a feat considering I'm the blister queen! :cheer2:

I have been debating back and forth if I wanted to bother bringing my sneakers on vacation. Since I haven't worn them since I got my crocs and after reading your post I decided no way! So I will bring my 3 pairs of crocs and 1 dressy pairof shoes. The DH wants me to wear "heels" with a dressy dress on the cruise. :sad2:

Wanted to order these online, but they are still sold out of 3 styles! I went to a local shoe store and they didn't have a lot in, :sad2: , but after talking about how great they were to all the sales people, one of them went in the back and saw they had a new shippment just in! But the did not get a packing slip with them, since I had driven 30 + miles to see them they sold me 2 pairs, pink and sage. I would have bought more, but that was the only 2 pairs that fit! It is so strange, I got Beach size 6-7 this time, but my Highlanders are 8-9, and a bit big. Some of the 6-7 were way to small, but the 8-9 floated on me.. so do try them on! I guess it is good that they only had 2 colors, the yellow allmost fit, and I don't have a thing to wear with that color! But I would have bought them if they had fit! My DS thinks I am cracy! DH is out of town :rolleyes1 , hummm, wonder if I can hit up the other 4 stores in a 50 mile radius and see what they have....
