What CROCS did for me!!

Okay, I am crashing my own thread here momentarily to CRY!! Be careful what you wish for. Just speaking about how nice it would be to have WDW at your dorrstep got back to someone in my husband company (not literally) I cannot believe it but hubby just told me there is a possibility that we could be moving from Colorado to Vero Beach Fla....Okay I have said that I love Disney too much I think, now it is coming back to haunt me. I know nothing about Florida but I really love where I live--It is the absolute best state anywhere...I am sad. Are there any of Fla. residents out there that might be able to shed some light on this potental move, because I am scared to death it might actually happen. No more SNOW    No skiing, no Rocky Mountains, no hiking or rock climbing for DH--oh my word!!! It just might be the best move DH could make for his career, but the worst move for our family--what do you do! He loves his job and his company--they aren't saying he "HAS" to take it...but they are making the sugestion that he should for further advancement since things are at a stalemate where he is currently. OH boy, this is BIG...for someone who loves the cold weather, if I move to FLA. I may never leave the house!!!

I just had to share with all of you--My CROC friends!!

:grouphug:

I cant imagine!! I've been trying to get dh to find a headhunter in Colorado!! (He's a software, computer, engineer! very smart too smart for me!! :earboy2: ) anyway, we both love the outdoors, and the weather in Colorado is positively AWESOME!!

My mom keeps trying to entice us to Florida :rotfl2: We keep saying, "no hockey in Florida!!" :rotfl:

I am happy for your hubby, but I would live in Colorado anytime versus Florida. I have always wanted to move to Colorado, and still may some day!

Anyone know where I can get some Crocs in the UK. They dont ship internationally :(

Much rather wear a pair of Crocs than the battered pair of Vans I was planning to wear.

Sending you pixie dust :wizard: and lots of hugs :grouphug:
I don't live in Florida so I can't give you any advice. Look at it this way instead of vacationing to Florida you will be vacationing to Colorado. If its a great move for DH you may have to think about it. :flower:

Sorry can't help you out there other than try some of the various other websites that sell them other than the Crocs site. I had a little trouble getting them shipped to Canada as well, not all sites will.
Try www.rei.com

Good Luck! I'm still waiting for mine :)

I live in Florida. What do you want to know? Yes, it is hot in the summer and we have very few cool/cold days. Where would you be looking at? What part of Florida? Any info I can give you I will.

Okay, I just caved in and ordered a pair of Niles from nofeargear.com, so wish me luck that they're in stock! I have really wide feet so I'm worried that they won't fit.

My grandparents lived in Vero and I must say it is very nice. I never remember it being too warm. You have a lovely beach and during the winter you can go watch for sea turtles. The kids will love that! AND you will be eligible for the FLA resident discounts! Just look at it as an adventure! Everyone loves a good adventure. :grouphug: Things will work out as long as you keep an open mind and heart!

We live in Colorado and would rather live in Florida! So who does your DH work for and do they have open reqs? :)

Oh just re-raed and saw you said Vero Beach. Much better than Miami. I live in Miami and I do love it but it is very crowded. Vero is a bit more laid back. So think of the sunshine and beaches. It is hot here. Vero only slightly cooler than So. Fla so dont expect to have more than maybe 2 weeks of scattered days of coolness. The lowest evry once in a while will hit the 40s but usually 50s are our winter days. It will be 50 one day and warm up the next to 70s. April - October will be prety warm and sumer down right hot. But the trade off is all the outdoor things you can do. It is very different from what you are used to but It can be great. Good luck!

:rotfl: You shock me!!! OMgosh I never thought I would here anyone who lived in CO say they would want to move to florida. My friends are already throwing a wake in the news. Florida has one thing I love--WDW and everything I don't like ie; HOT, bugs, Christmas with 80 degrees, No terrain--FLAT, Hurricanes...Oh yeah, did I say I can't deal every well with the heat, even here I stay inside when it gets in the 90 and there is no humidity!!! UGH, I am so sad and it hasn't even happened yet!! I am praying it won't.

Darlene

Oh Dchef,

I feel for you. This area is the perfect area to live. But....if you have to be transferred, I guess Florida is better than some. Just think of all the friends that will come down to visit you :-) And you have the ocean. That is almost as awe inspiring as looking at Long's Peak every morning.

I wouldn't be missing the cold at all or the snow. Perhaps look at this as a temporary situation. A 2 or 3 yr plan. When your husband is ready to climb again perhaps you'll be able to go "back home" or another part of the country.

PS - Where are My Crocs....okay it's only been a week and they said 2-3 weeks AHHHHHH!

We're looking to move next year, somewhere with a lower altitude and warmer climate. The decreased amount of oxygen isn't good for DH's respiratory problems. But if we have to stay in Colorado, we'd rather live in the Denver or Boulder areas. We live in Colorado Springs, and well....I won't whine too much here LOL.

I hope everything works out for you!

You all are so optimistic!! The latest word is that it would be Jacksonville not Vero. I don't know if that is better or not but at lease there are some woods and trees there and it isn't but a full days drive to Northern Georgia mountains. I know I can certainly buy more house than in Vero and that is always a plus and wow--maybe even some land...UNHEARD of here in Colorado.

You will definetly get more house and almost Georgia terrain in Jacksonville. You will also get some cooler days. 30s even. Sounds like a much better plan for you. And still get those Fla resident rates!!!
Good luck!

What's Colorado and moving, etc. got to do with Crocs? You might like to start a new thread with your potential move stuff and get this thread back to Crocs so they don't close it because it's hopping down a bunny trail.

Unless the pharmacy you work in doesn't manufacture IV's, or uses a needleless system, I guess I just assume that shoes with holes would put your feet at risk of needle sticks. In that case, you might try the Highlander CROCS...no holes!

I'm on clinical rotations so I won't be in the actual pharmacy. We round with the med team.

I actually talked with the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for the hospital I'll be in for 5 months of the next year and she said that tons of nurses and lots of the rest of the medical staff are wearing them! You'd think there might be an issue with the risk of needle sticks through the holes but apparently not. I know when I did my first clinical internship I was surprised at some of the shoe types that were allowed for that very reason. I had been wearing Klogs in the Keywest style which also have holes and are great, BTW, but more for hospital work than Disney, I'd say.

I did get my Crocs yesterday and wore them all day today and am loving them so far! I'd actually just ordered a new pair of Chacos for Disney this summer but I'm thinking of returning those and getting another couple pairs of Crocs (other than the lime green ones I already have on order) instead!

Dchef, I sympathize with your sadness over possibly moving. :sad1: I couldn't imagine moving from Colorado to Florida. I don't think I'd like living in Florida and I've lived in the fairly hot South almost my whole life! But, as daisylove points out, there would be benefits! :earsboy:

Oh Geez--can't a gal have a moment to grief among friends  ???????
Alright then--back to Crocs...I figured since I started the thread, I could hijack it :moped: to wallow in self pity...come on...play along :charac2:
