what country is Castaway Cay?

It is part of the Bahamas which is why you'll get a Bahamas immigration form even when you are on an Eastern or Western cruise that doesn't stop at Nassau.

and if you get your passport stamped, the stamp is different for CC than for Nassau...

ivanova, can you tell me about how you get your passport stamped for CC. Thanks!

You can turn your passports in at the Guest Services desk on board (Deck 3) and request that they be stamped. As with everything Disney, they won't guarantee your passport will get stamped. However, we were just on the 3-night Wonder cruise (7-20 to 7-23) and our passports were stamped in both Nassau and at Castaway Cay. :cool1:

The Nassau stamp says:
Bahamas Immigration
JUL 21 2006
Prince George Dock

The Castaway Cay stamp says:
BAHAMAS CUSTOMS
(unreadable handwritten initials and number)
JUL 22 2006
SANDY POINT, ABACO

I am going to ask a question and hopefully NOT feeling like an idiot. DH & I just came back from the WONDER and I do NOT think my or DH's passports were STAMPED AT ALL.... :confused3

I have put them safely away so I cannot pull them right out...but when did I get them stamped. I showed them to the DCL Desk in the AKL and then that was IT that I can recall.... :confused3

momreko, as a normal course they don't stamp passports when you are cruising in the Caribbean or Bahamas

what about those who come from the UK can we ask to get ours stamped? Dont they take our passports away?

Nope

They took our passport :

( as the worst part of the whole 3 days for us was getting up early to be in the theatre for 6 am to get our passports back and report to immigration.) :guilty: :smooth:

That was from my reveiw story.

Perphaps when you got the passport back and go to guest services and see if they can stamp for you or not?

Yes they do take our passports away and it makes me a bit cross as I wanted to get mine stamped.

Perhaps it will all change all everyone soon has to have a passport. Just hoping that they will not take ours for the med cruise -feel lost without it and really do not know why they do this. Just to make us get up early I suppose.

Sooner they change this silly rule the better

Just to clarify, Guest Services do not stamp the passports. Stamping the passports is a government function. What Guest Services do for United States citizens is to accept and try to get them stamped by the appropriate Gov't officials.

For our overseas guests, who passports are colleced for other reasons (I don't know why they do this) you can ask about getting them stamped when they originally collect them. If they do this at checkin, perhaps you can wait until the next day.

Gatour is correct. As I said in my earlier post, DCL does not guarantee your passports will get stamped. In order to try, you have to turn your passports in at the Guest Services desk on board the ship and request the stamps. DCL will then hold on to the passports and present them to the customs officials at each port. It is then ultimately up to the customs officials whether or not they will take the time to stamp the passports since it is actually totally unnecessary for them to be stamped. In our case, I consider the stamps as souviners and feel we were lucky that all of our passports were stamped.

I'm not sure how it would work for those of you who are not U.S. citizens and have to relinquish your passports at check-in. I would suggest that you ask the cast member at check-in if your passports could be stamped. Then I would follow up at the Guest Services desk on board to let them know you'd like to get the stamps if possible.

Good luck!

Does anyone know the actual name of the island? I remember hearing it in the Travel Channel show, but can't find it online.

Thanks.
