What could this be?

Sounds like a seizure to me. One of my best friend starting getting them right after HS. Was perfectly fine until an episode like you described. Then they stopped as quickly as they started. But have it checked out.

Now that I've read your reply it does make me a bit more concerned and wonder if maybe something more serious happened. The route I was driving is the commute to school and one I make 2-3 times a week and have done for 2 years now. I was coming up to the top of a hill before the "episode" and then was at the intersection at the bottom of the hill afterwards.

I guess I was just taken aback by other poster's suggestions for going to the ER. I mean by the time I posted this it had been several hours after this happened and aside from a lingering headache, I feel fine. Since it's never happened before, isn't it safe to assume it was just some isolated thing?

Oh yes, by all means wait and see if it happens again, you know, after maybe killing someone. :sad2:
You honestly don't see the danger in this?:confused3

Have someone take you to the ER now so the doctors have a better chance of finding out what is wrong sooner before the seizure disorder, bleeding in the brain, or whatever it is worsens and kills you or someone else.

I have diabetes. Don't blame those symptoms on low blood sugar.

I have to say that half a minute is an awful long time, people are dying in accidents because they fell asleep on the wheel for a few seconds.
I don't think that we can assume that the OP is correct about the amount of time involved. People are actually really bad at estimating time and they generally over estimate when describing very short periods of time.

A while back, a drunk driver crossed over and hit my family head on. It felt like it took minutes for the accident to happen and afterward when we described what happened, we estimated the total time to have been something like 10-20 seconds. A week or so later, I went back to the scene to take some pictures and estimate the distances involved. It turns out that the entire event could not have taken more than two or three seconds. Similarly, the OP's description of thinking that she was hitting the brake and instead accelerating to the described speed could have happened in just a few seconds.

Many years ago, I had a second job working at an airport ticket counter. I would get up at about three AM, work at the airport until about 10:30 and then get to my real job by 11:30, grabbing some food on the way. One morning, I was checking people in, standing below a skylight with the sun beating down on me. As usual, I hadn't eaten. I got a bit dizzy, forgot how to check someone in, and could not make the correct words come out of my mouth.

I went to my doctor. He told me to try to get more sleep and to eat in the morning.

Just a few nights ago, a woman in my area was going 70 in a 30-35(not sure the exact speed limit). It only took a fraction of a second for her to cause an accident, kill her 3 year old and critically injure her 5 year old.

The situation the Op described is incredibly dangerous.

I'm not sure Op, if you are willing to get checked out by a doctor, but I really wish you would, and quickly too, while these things are fresh and perhaps more easily diagnosed. And please post and let us know how you are.

Yup. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
It's a trip to the ER, is what it is. You could have killed yourself or someone else. I'm shocked at your blase' attitude about it. Wanna laundry list the possibilities??

Stroke
Heart Attack
Seizure
Aneurysm
Narcolepsy

Seriously...go to the ER or at least call your doctor's office right now. This could be something REALLY bad.

Double yup. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
First, NO. And second, because SHE COULD HAVE KILLED HERSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE and because whatever it is could still kill her.

I don't play games with my life. When my body does something it isn't supposed to I go have it checked out immediately.

And if this person is on the road she is a danger to the rest of us.

You SERIOUSLY need to go to emerg or the Dr. I wouldnt wait. Because you never know, next time you might not be so lucky. You might hit someone, or another car, or a tree. Youre a danger to others to be honest. Get checked out.

For my own peace of mind I have to believe the OP is just messing with us. I don't want to think of people like this on the road just thinking to themselves "Ha Ha, no big deal.":scared1:

OP, didn't you post last year that you had severe leg swelling but didn't want to check it out?

If you truly were eventually admitted to the hospital as you said in that thread for a DVT, don't you think you could possibly have had a mini-stroke from another blood clot? Why would you fool around with avoiding the doctor again?

Didn't you learn anything from that last incident?

So I have always had problems with my feet/ankles. I've had multiple sprains/strains throughout childhood/teenage years and into my early adulthood (I'm 22). Over the past few days, my feet (both) are swelling throughout the day and to the point that it is hard to walk. I was at work yesterday and kept having to take my shoes off at the desk cause my shoes were so tight! My toes were turning gray/pale from the swelling and today even putting socks on made them swell.

Thoughts?

Hi. I apologize for not updating earlier. I keep forgetting about this thread!

Anywho, I did go to the ER, and it was a good decision. By the time I decided to go, I couldn't walk at all. The pain was unbearably awful. My friend took me and I literally rolled out of the house in an office/desk chair and then hobbled into the car. It was ROUGH.

Turns out it was a good thing I went, and things could have been bad if I didn't so thanks for the convincing.

I've actually got several issues going on, ranging from mild to more serious. The least serious one is tarsal tunnel syndrome in both feet (like carpal tunnel...related to my past injuries), the treatment for that is special orthotics/braces, NSAIDs and cortisone shots.

I did/do have a DVT/clot in my left leg, which is the one where the swelling was/is worst, but in addition, I have acute kidney disease. Docs highly suspect/believe the DVT and kidney issues are due to Lupus. I actually suspected I had Lupus a few years ago but I was told I didn't "fit" the typical lupus patient profile.

So, I was admitted and am being treated for the kidney issue and the DVT as well as high blood pressure (never had it before but it's related to the kidneys). Hope I get out soon. Anyone have experience with Lupus?

Can we please just pretend I never posted this and move on? It's all over now, and I won't post anything like this again.

Please...just stop.

Relax...People have been a lot nicer on here than they probably should have been.

You asked, we answered.

Fair enough, but I don't see the need for people to bring up her old threads, as someone did up there.

Considering the severity of what happened, people have been quite restrained in their replies.

This is exactly what happened to me when I had my TIA/mini-stroke. I was driving and all of the sudden my world went black. Luckily I was able to hit the brakes when I felt myself start to feel "weird" and didn't get into a wreck. One side of my body also felt much weaker and I just felt out of sorts. I had my DH take me to the hospital immediately and they diagnosed the TIA. I was told NOT to drive until I saw my Neurologist and he put me on driving restriction for over a month.

I have a genetic clotting disorder and have a history of blood clots so I was put on blood thinners immediately and now take an aspirin a day and will have to take some sort of thinning medication for life. My Neurologist also changed my migraine medication to a different type since what I was on can contribute to strokes.

This is not something to take lightly. I had 3 children in the car when mine happened and I am just horrified to think what could have happened if I had wrecked.

Look, I'm sorry I even asked. I just don't want this to drag on and won't ever post anything like this ever again. My mom got irritated at me for posting it and I don't want to cause any drama. Just stop posting on this thread and let it die.

I don't like causing drama and have never been one to start it. I'm fine now, drove to school this morning with no problems so can we just move on???

This is why it won't die. I'm betting you don't want it to either.;)
