I was on Garden Walk.com and there is an aerial map and it shows Disney's 3rd Proposed Gate. What do you think this could be?:3dglasses

I've heard rumors a couple months ago that they were going to use the propoerty on the other side of the park for a 3rd park- and a couple of people were speculating on a water park, but I don't know if that's true at all or not.

I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about or not.

No. This is Property on the map captioned - Disney's Proposed 3rd Gate. Gates bring to mind an other theme park.

A water park wouldn't be the best use of space since Knott's has a huge water park 8 miles away. And there is a Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine 12 miles away.

And it seems water parks are losing their appeal anyway.

Do they have the DL DVC sited yet??

If it was another land park? What would you want? What theme would rock your Day?

Not Animals, Not Hollywood, A World Showcase?

It's clear across the street from DL and DCA, so I would think that if it was a DL addition it'd be separate park. Or maybe just a parking garage?

I heard the timon lot is going to be turned into a parking garage at some point.

This is an area that is rumored to eventually be " something" Disney. I think Garden Walk added that to thier map as a marketing strategy.

It looks too small to be any kind of new park. Maybe it is the site of the new hotel(s) - wasn't Disney supposed to have two new hotels in the works closer to the Garden Walk area?

Yes. I heard that too.

I have been looking at the AGW site, over time, before beginning with before it was being built, the person in charge of the project, I had sent an email to, asking about the proposed third gate, at the time, it was being advertised on the AGW site, as Disney's third park, so I had asked about these things, his reply was, Who are you? gee, isn't that friendly? (no)
then I had called Dl.'s GS's, and had been told (at the time, many months ago, now, if not last year) that there were no plans that he nor anyone else (he had asked other co-workers, about this as well, for me) by Disney to build a third park.
Now, maybe at some point, it won't be a park, but rather hotel properties, I too, am thinking this as well.

On that site under the location description it says "The property is located between Disney's front gate to The Magic Kingdom and the new California Adventure, and Disney's newly announced Third Park".

I guess that is old info since it refers to CA as new.

There was a lot of talk about the third gate before DCA opened, but after it underperformed things cooled off. There's also been some conflict / opposition from the City of Anaheim. I think they wanted to build a boulevard straight through it.

There was a site out there that talked about the history of that property (a strawberry field). I'll see if I can find it.

It would have been nice, if it had remained a strawberry field, other crops could have been grown too, an urban garden, that would have been wonderful. They are very important to any urban, and the like, community.

The rumors go back as far as 2000. See this LA Times article...
http://articles.latimes.com/2000/jul/22/news/mn-57445 And this BBC article... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/848782.stm That article even gave a potential opening of the third gate as 2003!

The owner of that Strawberry field passed on and his kids finally sold it to Disney for a lot of money. If you think about how much Walt hated how the tourism community grew up around Disneyland and how he couldn't do anything about it for lack of funds, it makes sense that they bought that area.

That lot is still vacant and who knows when they will actually do anything with it, with all the money that is being spent on DCA. Maybe Wescot is still out there on a drawing board!

So, Disney might build the southern most hotel in Garden Walk which would lead into the strawberry fields 3rd gate.
