What constitues a medical neccesity for a comp refrigerator?

We are staying a PC and leave in 2 days. DS has come down with an ear infection, so we will be bringing his antibiotics with us on the trip. The antibiotics need to be refrigerated. Should I call reservations now and ask for this to be notated on the reservation, or just show the bottle with the instructions to the front desk attendant? Would this constitute medical use and negate the $10/night fee, or if I should plan on spending the extra $10/night?
TIA!

My daughter got an ear infection right before we left one year too! I didn't have time to call ahead, but when I said to the check-in CM that I needed to get a fridge for my daughter's medicine, she ordered it and it was delivered right after we got in the room. I was never billed, but I'm not sure what the "policy" is. Hope you have a great trip!

It seems to depend on the CM at the time but it sounds like you should be able to get one at no cost for the medicine. Beware they may also offer to store the medicine for you at the front desk if they don't have any fridges available. Sometimes they give you a fridge the size of a shoebox - just big enough for the medicine.

Just fyi, I have in the past asked my pediatrician to change my dd to an antibiotic that didn't require refridgeration and had no problem. We were going camping and relying on coolers. (DD was already well and at the very end of the antibiotics!)

If you want or really need the minifridge then perhaps you should budget the 10.60 just in case and hope for the best (free).

eta - Forgot to say I hope everyone is feeling great for the trip!

i thought all the reosrts had fridges now we ha done at the WL in Sept 2004
it came in the room and we werent billed
also i have heard of this at the
so....I am not sure

Only the moderates and deluxes have the complimentary fridges now - at the values there is still an additional charge.

Thanks everyone!
The values don't include a refrigerator without charge, only the deluxes and moderates.

yes, any need to refridgerate medicine will get you one "gratis". On our trip, DD1 was at the tail end of her 10 days of med for ear infection and DS3 was in the middle of his 10 day course of meds for sinus infection.

Of course, we all left WDW with pink eye.

Make sure to take and use antibacterial hand wash!

Do we need to bring a doctor's note with us explaining the medication or do they kind of just take your word for it? DD has asthma and we will be bringing along a course or two of steroids. Hopefully she will not need them but I'd rather have them and be able to start her on them if she needs them rather than having to spend a day (or more likely night) at an ER. We will have the nebulizer and all the other asthma gear and at home we keep steroids on hand, do we need to bring a note for the comped fridge though?

One persons experience will not always be everyones experience. The best thing to do is bring doctors note and prescription boxes/bottles as proof the meds are necessary. Doesn't hurt to cover all bases.

I agree - We always need a fridge (chronic medical conditions) and have never needed "proof" other than the large bags of meds we travel with. But, I bring the original Rx bottles just in case. I have never been charged for my medical fridge.
