I am really bad at picking out colors. If you folks could give me some suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!!! I would like to either double or triple matte this photo. I will probably frame it with something that looks like old barn wood. That is, unless anyone has a better suggestion!!

Definately a warmer tone - maybe a rust color with some brown?

That is also a beautiful shot. One of these days DH and I are going to have to take off during the fall and go away just the two of us. I doubt it will happen before our oldest gets out of high school though.

............. 3 and a half more year.

Psstt Jen your oldest graduated last year :)

but to answer the question I would go with darker earth tones.... brown, rust, pale green....

Several pros say only black or white, ever!

I'd say try and exactly match that burnt orange from the mill's wheel. Not the red from the leaves. It would draw attention to the center of your picture and be dark enough on the top to make the yellow lighter top bling and light enough on the bottom against the rock to make it bling. Yep, that would be nice!

I played around with your picture in Print Shop 20. You can experiment until you find just the look you are looking for.

I have no idea--I have to play around with mats and try different ones to pick the right color for scrapbooking (I'm a black or white mat only for framing).

However, I did want to say nice picture!

:lmao: whoops - I meant our YOUNGEST. ;)

Thanks for catching my slip. :)

not sure if it's just me but every time i try a color mat, i really like black or white best, with pinstripe...to me it takes away from the photo when the mat is to "visible", just like you want a simpler frame...
played around and got this...i tried the red or grey as well but liked the green better

sorry for some reason it is huge

OK, Here's my try at it. Sorry, all out of wood frames! :lmao:

Whatever you decide to frame it in, it'll be a great addition to your room. Beautiful shot. :thumbsup2

Here's another version with a close color match to the water wheel as your matte.

Oh boy, this is not going to be an easy job. You guys have given me so many good ideas:thumbsup2 .

I will go with the metallic paper though. I just skimmed through the yellow pages of the phone book and think I will go to a professional framer instead of just going to a crafting store.

Depends on the frame you use and where you intend to display it. But I would either go with the black matte or with the color of the water wheel. My two cents.....:)

That is perfect and exactly what I had in mind. If the frame was black, you'd have a picture I'd pay for. :goodvibes
