What color Moby wrap?

Totally weird question. I've decided I "need" a Moby wrap for the baby. I'm going to add one to our registry, but I can't decide what color! Has anybody had a color they loved? Anybody even know what I'm talking about?

No help from me, but I "need" one too!
Someone gave me a sling with my last baby, and I thought it was a tad too granola for me. I was wrong!!! Holy heck that thing saved my life!!!
The moby looks sooo much more comfortable. And cuter too. Cute is important!!!

It would depend on the sex of the baby and the climate you are from.

I ordered Navy Blue and used it mostly over the summer in Florida. Not a wise color choice. It also showed fur easily from our abundance of cats.

But--stains concealed well.

I tried to pick the color based on my own personal wardrobe.

I'm not going to order brown if I wear mostly blues for example....

We loved our Moby. We also liked the hotsling and I got blue paisley on that one.

DH's sister gave me a cute sling (I think it's an o-ring sling? She's gonna show me how to use it) and DH's coworker gave us a Bjorn...we like hand me downs. I'm drawn to the Mobys for some reason...they just look like something I would wear. They actually remind me of American Apparel stuff for some reason, and I love that stuff.

It is a boy, and I live in NC and it will be HOT here this summer, and humid...definitely no black!! I was thinking sand, but I just didn't know how practical that was...it's still a little blah, but it's not black, and I am SO sick of black-the only color maternity clothes can be made in, apparently.

I hated our Bjorn (very much not ergonomic depsite what they claim--hurt my back bunches!)

Moby's are nice--extreme learning curve though. PRactice with a stuffed animal--but be prepared for about 3-7 days of havoc trying to figure it out until one day it is easy peasy to get onto you. The video is VERY helpful!

I liked the hotsling b/c it is simply a pouch--and I have no back issues.

You do have to be careful--there is a proper size adn way to wear this things so that it is not dangerous for a newborn. Some people order their pouches and slings wayyy too small or wayyyy to big.

Moby gives you flexiblity to customize the fit to you and baby. One size truly fits all.

The sling I have is an O-ring, and the metal ring part hurt my shoulder after a while. That's what I like about the moby, no metal parts.
Baby bjorns are great, but if you were give an older one you might want to look into a newer one. I've carried my neighbors baby around in the newer one and its much, much more comfy than the old one. I donated my old one to birth right last week.
The Ergo baby is also super comfortable!! (they are expensive, but you can usually find them on craigslist) Only down side is that baby can't face forward. You can put baby (when older of course) on your back though, which is really nice!! It's much easier to shop with out 10 month old grabby hands out in front of you!
The Ergo, New Bjorn, and Moby are all on my list this time around! Thank goodness for consignment and craigslist!!

I got black.

Dump the Bjorn; not good for your back, not good for baby's pelvis. Get the carriers that really cradle the baby's bum, even if you feel the need to have baby face out when they are several months old (not as a tiny baby!). You can do a face-out carry with the Moby, but man oh man does it hurt the spinal muscles when they move!

Anyway, the baby carrier was for ME, so I got the colors I liked. Sage green and gold brocade for the hotsling (I was a b'maid when DS was 9 weeks old (huge nasty mistake, it nearly killed me) and wanted the gold brocade to match my red dress for the reception), black Moby, got two mammasmilk slings but I cannot remember what they look like other than one of them had a cherry print on it...etc etc. Just what makes you happy! IMO, no need to go with what the baby is...trust me, people will be making mistake after mistake of "what" the baby is even if you dress them head to toe in the "proper" color, so if you have a boy and want a pink sling, it's hardly going to make a difference with that.


I even branched out from the Moby, after finding a site (that I cannot find right now) that showed all sorts of different ways of tying bits of fabric. I got a huge swath of orange/yellow batik fabric and tied it mobystyle for going to festivals (like the one I chose my username from), you can see that here.

Chocolate or eggplant.. I wouldn't want any of the lighter colors - they would spot and get dirty too quickly - and you definitely don't want the black because of the sun..

Neat gizmo.. They didn't have all of these interesting things when I had my kids..

Ok that link is too funny. All are smiling "moms" and then there's this annoyed looking "dad."

I wouldn't worry so much about match as I would temperature/weather. I wouldn't do any dark colors if I anticipated being out in warm or hot weather much. I think the Indigo is a nice middle color, not too light, not too dark. Moss is ok too. If heat/being outside isn't an issue, I think Eggplant is the nicest color.
