I am ready to get some new christmas decorations and thinking of decorating the tree this year in silver and blue balls. The last couple years I did multi color lights and balls.

So what do you decorate your tree with? White or multi color lights? Do you have a theme?

It is all personal preference, but inside on all decorations, I like the small white bulbs. Outside on trees, I like the large colored lights. On the bushes outside, I like the small white bulbs.

I love little white lights on the tree..and tons of them with one strand a slow flicker. However, when we got our new pre-lit tree it's colored lights. I don't hate it, but it's not the same :sad1:

I do white on the inside of the tree (near the trunk) and colored on the outside. And NEVER EVER blinking or twinkling. That drives me nuts.

My husband and I are two totally different Christmas decorators lol. We finally got a second tree to keep the peace!

I prefer the uniform, traditional looking tree. He's compared me to Monica Gellar from 'Friends' when I decorate lol. I bought all new decorations for it last year. I went with white lights with gold and red decorations. They don't have to be just bulbs, but have to be red and gold. I found pinecones with gold glitter that I'm in love with. I also put a gold/red beaded garland around the tree. I love it. Red and gold just seems very Christmas to me, like Santa.

My husband likes the multi-color lights and personal decoration look. So we have a fun tree in the living room. That tree has all of our ornaments from vacations (we get 1 everywhere we go) and personalized decorations and stuff like that.

Growing up, we would get a new ornament each year. Usually, this was for a trip or special event, but some years we just went to Hallmark to get one. Our tree is a virtual time line of special events from over the years.

The ornaments stay the same each year, but sometimes I change the lights depending on my mood for that year. I've done both white and multi-colored, just not at the same time! I have a pre-lit tree that I bought last year, and it's pathetic but I don't remember if the lights are white or multi-colored!

Small white lights.

As for decorating, I like the two tier approach. We get an ornament each year that will remind us of something significant that happened in that year (births of our children, places we traveled, etc.). We also have other ornaments that the kids made or that we've found an enjoyed. We put these on first. But then we have a bunch of red bulbs and white crocheted snowflakes. These go on last and then we put a giant red bow with gold edging and ribbon coming down as our tree topper. From a distance, the tree looks very uniform, but when you get up close, you see all the individual ornaments hanging. For us, it's the best of both worlds :)

I only like multi-colored lights. We put multi-colored lights on the tree and lots of fun ornaments. We have ones that our kids have made, ones that I made as a kid, ones from different places we have traveled, ones that reflect our personalities or interests, and of course, lots of Disney ornaments. I love our tree.

On the outside of the house we have multi-colored icicle lights hanging off the house and multi-colored ones on our two bushes. I don't like white lights and yet it seems like everybody has white lights. So it makes our house stand out a bit more.

Well...we do only white lights and in the past only did white and blue on our tree, then white and lime green. Now it is still white lights BUT the ornaments are all different colors because I discovered I could pick up ornaments from every place we travel too and it is not just extra clutter it makes for a nice tree soo.....multicolor ornaments and white lights. Outside this year we are getting the new dripping icicle lights....

This is our first Christmas together, and I plan on doing colored lights. I look forward to it :).

We don't have many ornaments and have a tight budget, so I plan on taking DBF's kids and having them help me make some. This will make them much more valuable to us :).

I do the same thing Scrapquitler does, white on the inside and multicolor on the outside. I love the look! The tree is decorated in Disney Ornaments! I put up several trees so I can do some of both which is nice. I love the holiday season!!

We use colored lights and a variety of ornaments. The kids help decorate and you can tell where they hang everything. Always in one spot at their current height and I leave it like that. Relatives tell me that I need to rearrange after the kids go to bed, but I know my children will notice if I moved something.

We have done trees in the past with only white lights, trees with only red & white lights and trees with only multi colored lights. We have had 3 ft tall trees all the way up to 12 ft! We've done fake and real. Ornaments are a mixture of handmade by dd and nieces & nephew, Hallmark ornaments, ornaments from my childhood that my parents let me have and ones we have gotten on trips we take.

Last year we got a slim 6.5 ft tree - after 6 years of a HUGE 12 ft! We really like the slim trim and it is prelit with white. This year I want to put a few strands of colored lights on it also because I missed the colored light last year.

My parents have a fake tree with hot pink lights and it is covered with Christopher Radco ornaments. In laws do a small live tree- think Charlie Brown, with 1 strand of white lights and paper doves that my mother in law made years ago.

multi coloured for me and I am happy to read I am not the only person who does not like blinking lights.

A friend of mine has an amazing tree and although it's not Mickey Mouse it is pretty nice. It is all Snoopy. Lights, ornaments, cross stitch tree skirt (made by yours truly) and to top it off the whole tree rotates. It is quite something to see.

I've seen a rotating tree before and thought it was so nice! I bet your friends tree is amazing!

I use white lights only. I don't like multicoloured lights at all.

Same here. I use clear lights and lots of Santas on the tree. Our tree is prelit with little clear lights, but even with our old trees we always used clear lights. I've collected Santas for years, so have them from every where, in all sizes, shapes, and colors. I have tons of Santa ornaments, but also lots of Santa figurines and music boxes that I scatter around the house.

I also use clear lights outside--the ice cycle ones all around the roof lines, small ones in a net over the shrubs, and the little twinkling ones in the trees, then I have some large blow up Santa and elves we use in the yard, light up white tree sculptures we use in the flower beds, and light up penguins with shovels we use along both sides of the driveway. I do have a cedar like tree next to my front door that I use little white lights and large multicolored balls on though.
