Hi

On our last two visits we have hired a dodge van in Orlando for the four of us, but want a different car this time. What do you all hire?

We like the Jeep Grand Cherokee although the Jeep Commander is nice as well :)

Claire ;)

we normally just go for the smallest and cheapest as there is only two of us but last year got the intermediate 4x4 and it was great so have booked the same this year

get a convertible!!! its amazingly impractical but you can't beat driving in disney with the sun blazing and the top down!! :)

We liked the Toyota Sienna that we had a couple of years ago. Seated 8 and lots of luggage space! :)

I have had the 300c a few times, just booked Full size this year with free upgrade with Budget

Grand voyager. Loads of room. I like a big car with a bit of protection from all those Giant SUV's

always hire a full size and have been luckly enough to get a few free upgrades

The best car we ever hired was the Lincoln Navigator, but we got a ridiculously cheap rate (I think they made a mistake) and haven't been able to get anything close to that price since. Most of the rental firms have it available to hire as a specific option. Over the years we've hired all sorts, but my favourite recently (other than the Navigator) is the Cadillac SRX. It's not as stupidly big as the likes of the Navigator, but, being a crossover, still gives you that high vantage point. It's spacious inside and fully-loaded with all the extras. As far as I know, none of the rental firms allows you to book that specific model, but we've managed to get one twice by booking the Alamo Luxury category. In my opinion, it's much nicer than anything we've been able to get by simply booking under the SUV category.

we had a convertible the other year after we got the upgrade at the desk and it was the worse car ever, we didnt have enough room for the luggage.

It was good driving aorund with the top down but we didnt drive too much so was a bit of a waste.

We love the 4x4

We always go for the cheapest one, there's only the 2 of us anyway. We did once get a free upgrade to an SUV, they first asked if we wanted to pay for an upgrade, we declined and got it anyway.
We did once order a 4x4, but that was in Las Vegas, because we were driving to Arizona to a dude ranch which was several miles driving down a dirt track. Having 4x4 made it easier.

I'd love to hire a big car once, but at the moment can't justify the cost.

Dodge charger last time (just *** I was a big fan of dukes of hazzard) - it was the right red/orangey colour as well!

unfortionately it only had a 2.8 (I think?) V6 which was woefully underpowered for the size of the car! :(

boot was a good size though - got 3 full size suitcases in it and was generally quite nice to drive.

One thing I was surprised about was how few gadgets american cars have!

My hubbie thought the same too!
We like the Jeep Commando - although it doesnt like sharp bends at speed:scared1: Always wanted to hire a mustang, was so tempted to buy one the other year and get it transported back to the UK, couldnt believe the prices.
Last year we had a 8 seater thing, and folded back seats and had a massive boot, could have housed us!
This year we are doing the free basic car - bet we upgrade lol, as we are using magical express because the kids love it, and hate it when we pick car up at airport :)

We always rent a 7 seater SUV 4x4 and we've had a Lincoln Navigator, Toyota Sienna and a GMC Acadia.

Best of those would be the GMC for gadgets and power - it was VERY powerful!, Toyota for size and space.

We hired an economy and got a Dodge Caliber (I think this is the one up, a compact, rumour has it they rarely actually have the economy cars anyway) and an intermediate and got a Chrysler Sebring. Both times were with Dollar and the cars were adequate for our needs, though not particularly nice to drive (the Sebring in particular handled like a boat!!) I'm nervous to drive anything too big as I only have a Jazz over here and already get overly paranoid when reversing and parking, also there are only 2 of us and the Sebring fitted 2 cases and a huge holdall plus our hand baggage in the boot with room to spare.
