What can you use Disney Dollars for?

I think I am just going to get these for my parents and sisters for Christmas.

What can they be used for?

Can my parents use them to pay for tickets? Can my sisters use them on souvenirs? Can they be used for food??

They can be used at anything that is Disney owned (in the parks--everything--food carts, ticket booth, stores, restaurants, etc.; at Disney hotels everything; at MOST Downtown Disney shops but not places likes McDonald's, and at all Disney Stores in the U.S.)

We used the Disney Dollars for everything!! They paid for character meals, snacks, souveneirs. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot in Downtown Disney and they even accepted them in the gift shop there.
