What can you tell me about selling games/systems at GameStop?

We have an older (2009) silver metallic Nintendo DS Lite and a couple games that my DD doesn't use anymore. We were thinking of trying to sell them at Gamestop. I know nothing about this. Is it worth it? How much would we get? I have no idea how much it's even worth. Would I be better to just try and sell it on my own? Can anyone help? How much could I even ask for it?
Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Personal experience, they don't offer you much, but they'll give you a "bonus" percentage if you take the money as a store credit. Usually when we have a game to sell we'll do it online in a local facebook yardsale group. Can easily get 50% of its value there vs. a few bucks at gamestop.

Thanks for the info. How would I find out how much the DS itself is worth?

GameStop offers little amount for game systems. I would rather sell on Craigslist or eBay. Looking on eBay someone recently sold their Nintendo DS Lite for ~$40 they had free shipping but the item was only for game system and one game. eBay would get you more money than what GameStop would give and you can sell the games and system together if you want or just the game system by its self.

Thanks at least that gives me an idea of what to ask. That's about what I was thinking of asking $40 for the DS, 2 or 3 games and case. I might put up a sign at work first and see if anyone wants it there. I was hoping to sell it all at once.

You can call gamestop for an estimate of how much they'd give you. I've traded a few consoles and many games there.

If your system is more than one or two generations old forget game stop. They won't buy it. They only buy the current generation and the generation immediately prior. The games they MIGHT buy. Check their website to see if they still sell it then deduct 75-90% off the price they are selling it for. If the price is less than $5 then you'll get about a quarter for it or they won't take it. Your best bet is probably to just put it on craigslist or e-bay or donate it and take the deduction. I did my taxes today and I think the deduction for a DS was in the range of $35-$50 and the games were @$5 ea.

Like another person mentioned - look for a facebook buy/sell group in your area or post it on Craigslist. Gamestop is notoriously cheap when trying to sell things.
