What can you tell me about Outer Banks, NC?

We're staying with some friends in Outer Banks, NC for a week in May. DH and I have never been there, and I have no idea what it's like! Our friends made the reservation, but they won't tell us where we're staying - they say it's a surprise!

What's the weather like in late May? What's around for attractions, restaurants, beaches, shopping, fishing, etc, etc.

The Outer Banks is beautiful. It's different than most other beaches I've been to in that it is not way commercialized. No big boardwalk, no huge area with rides... It's more of a quiet, scenic place. I haven't been in a few years, but that is how I remember it.
Kill Devil Hills is there, where you see people hang gliding. The Wright Brothers Memorial is there.
I think you will have a good time. And the weather is really nice in NC in May. Probably will be in the 70s-80s.

Hopefully some others can tell more about the Outer Banks.

There are some good restaurants but there isn't a lot to do. Not much in the way of shopping or attractions, etc but the beaches are very nice.

We love the Outer Banks. It's a nice and relaxing vacation. You'll have a great time. Can't you find out what town you will be staying?

There's an outlet mall in Nagshead, and you'll probably visit a lighthouse. My relatives gather for a big vacation there every couple years, but rentals in high season have become really expensive.

It is really pretty there. But there is not a lot to do depending on where you will be staying. There is not an amusement park, shows, etc. Plenty of fishing, fishing and more fishing. A man's (women's also I guess) paradise. If you like a peaceful, relaxing, very quiet, vacation this is the place to go!!!
