We are flying in to the Onterio Airport. Has anyone else done this?? What is the drive to DL like?

I've driven past it on my way to DL and I will drive past it again tomorrow, so I will try to remember to time the distance. I want to say it was 30-45 minutes away, but I'm not sure. I remember seeing the sign for the airport and thinking we were close, but it took a while to get to DL after that. However, you can never get to DL fast enough w/ 2 small kids in the car for 20 hours

The Ontario airport has recently be redone. They are running all sorts of ads in LA about flying out of there as it is more "relaxing" than dealing withL LAX. They are also bragging about new terminals and "state of the art security" whatever that means.

If I were going to Disneyland and had to choose between there and LAX I would for sure choose Ontario (if Santa Ana is not an option)

There can be some bad traffic certain times of day but there are some carpool lanes and make sure you have a good map BEFORE you go and study it. Just ask if you need tips on the best route.
:)

Sonya- That would be great if you could time how long it is from the airport to DL for me!!!

hookedup- Thank-you for the great info about Onterio Airport! It reassured me greatly!!

I live very close the Ontario airport, and would agree that it is easier to deal with than LAX. From the airport to Disneyland is about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic.

Probably the easiest route would be to get on to Interstate 10 westbound after exiting the airport. Follow the airport exit signs to the interstate. Take I-10 west to state route 57 South. The interchange for S.R. 57 and I-210 are at the same place, about 10 miles west of the airport. Follow 57 S to Ball Rd. (about 15 miles). Exit at Ball and turn right. Follow Ball for a few miles and you'll see the signs for the resort parking stucture at Disneyland Drive. It will be a left turn, two lights past Harbor Blvd.

Good luck!

We took the 57 also, but got off at Katella. Since we were staying at a Harbor hotel I wanted to be on the side of Harbor the hotels were on so we didn't have to mess w/ turning around on Harbor.

I'll time the drive for you also this weekend.

We flew into the Ontario ARPT on 11/23/02 (a Saturday Morning). We rented a car (you have to take a shuttle bus to all the rental car places). We took the 10 west to 57 south and took the Katella exit--it took us approx. 45mins from the National Rental Car lot to the lobby of the Grand Californian.

Our return to the Ontario ARPT on 11/25/05 (a Monday afternoon during rush hour) via the reverse route took us just over an hour.

We had a good experience traveling through the Ontario ARPT (this was our second time--we took a previous trip a year almost to the date prior with similar pleasant results).
