What can you tell me about Loop 2800?

We're heading to FW on Thursday :yay: and I'm thinking of requesting a cabin in Loop 2800. Originally, I thought I'd rather be centrally-located, but now I'm thinking (especially since we won't have a golf cart and we're not planning to use the pool much) that it might be nice to be in 2800 near the Outpost Depot (that's where the transportation is to Epcot, DH, and AK, right?).

Is the 2800 loop pretty well treed? Is it quiet or do you get a lot of road noise? Is there a path to the Depot or do you have to walk on the road?

My top priorities are not being TOO far away from a bus stop and having the cabin be in a relatively private area (e.g. not right next to a road, backing up right against others, etc.). Do you think Loop 2800 would meet those needs or should I try getting into a different one?

TIA! :)

We returned home on Saturday from a week in Loop 2800. This was our first time at Ft Wilderness, and I thought it was perfect. We didn't rent a cart, opting instead to use the interior transportation.

I don't know if there's a path to the Outpost depot or not, but I think it'd be quite a walk. We didn't have any long waits for the busses to stop by at our loop. We were the first stop into the campground on the orange and purple lines and the last stop heading up to the Outpost.

We were in cabin #2847 and it wasn't far at all from the bus stop. We never heard any traffic or the neighbors, either. It was a most peaceful and relaxing stay.

Yes there is a path that runs from along side the road outside all the cabin loops, this path will take you to the Outpost. It is only about a quarter of a mile. If you look at the map of Fort Wilderness it should show you the paths. There is a map in the stickies at the start of the Camping forum. Have a great trip.

It's a "do-able" walk from 2800 to the outpost for older kids and adults. Little kids - uh - it's a lot of walking, especially if the weather is hot & humid. Although in some cases it might be faster to walk than to wait for the bus.

Thanks for the info. I called Fort Wilderness and requested this loop. We check in tomorrow and we'll see what happens and where we end up! :goodvibes
