My DD really wants to try this place for dinner, but we want to know more about it. Can anyone tell me about this place? Has anyone ordered the extra bucket of crab legs, and how much are they?

Thanks for any help,
Tracy :earsgirl:

I believe the extra bucket of crab legs is $12.95. We ate there in November. We didn't care for it, but we're not clam eaters at all. I should have ordered that crab bucket as there didn't seem to be allot else good. Many people love this place and it was nice for breakfast, but it also was a very busy night and we waited an hour to be seated. I don't think this is the norm, so don't go by that. It's just probably why we weren't in the best of moods either. If we would go again, I'd order the crab and probably be much happier, I love crab.

Did you try any of the peel and eat shrimp, and if so were they good? I am originally from Mobile, AL, so I love good seafood. I just don't want to go somewhere that isn't any good.

No, I didn't try that either. I really should have, I like shrimp too. Like I said, we really didn't have the "best" attitude. Which didn't help. And didn't give it much of a chance. LOTS of people LOVE it, and everyone around us had their plates piled high with clams and other seafood. I really would think you'd enjoy it and you know you'll get opinions both ways and if it sounds like something you'd like, the best thing is to just try it, then you'll know. There was also chicken and some other meats too. It was our "grumpy" meal of the vacation, long story, long day.

We are not big seafood eaters and probably would not have eaten there except, it was the one night I didn't have ADR's made, we were going to eat at the Food and Wine Festival, but we got over there and the place was just JAMMED with people. We decided that it was just too crowded to enjoy the festival, so we went back and called to see if there were any restaurants to eat at, believe it or not, that week-end was SO busy that there were absolutely NO times ANYWHERE on Disney property, I'm NOT kidding either!!! We were at the Beach Club Villa's and I finally went to the Beach Club concierge and they made reservations for us at Cape May.

We then waited an hour from our ADR time to be seated, my 8 year old niece was cranky from waiting, and so that was the scenario for the poor meal. DH said his meal was good, he had the chicken and another meat, DN had clams and some other stuff, and seemed to enjoy that, I had the pasta. At least we got fed that night!!! ;) Unless we were with a group that really liked clams and seafood we will not go again, and if we would, I would just get the crab for myself. Like I said, if your DD really wants to try it, and you enjoy seafood, there was allot of that!!! ALLOT of people just love it!!!

I've been three times. I eat non-fish, and found everything pretty average (not bad, not great).

The three other people I ate with are fishy people ;) and none of them raved about the food.

It is usually a pretty busy place. I've seen folks turned away or upset that they had to wait. So, if you want to try it out, I would recommend getting an ADR.

Have a great trip!

We always have dinner at the Cape May Clam Bake every trip. They have a wide variety of seafood and meat dishes, as well as salads and desserts. We have always enjoyed our meals. It does get very crowded so you must make a reservation.

The peel and eat shrimp is nothing to brag about here. The shrimp are small to medium size. Cape May Buffet needs to take a look at the Disney Cruise Line's peel and shrimp, they are huge and wonderful!

The only thing I can tell you with relative certainty is that we'll be there next Sunday at 5:30. Woooooooooo Hooooooooooooo!!   :cheer2: :cheer2: :teeth: :teeth: Just had to share my joy! We'll give a full dining report when we get back.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but, we won't go back for dinner. Breakfast is good but our last experience with dinner, no thanks.

It was packed, many items we're picked over and gone and they were very slow to replenish. It was just me and 7 yr old dd which made it very difficult because we had to keep getting up to see if they'd replenish and then wait in a long line. We spent more time waiting in line than we did sitting and eating. Even by the time we were done they still hadn't replenished the salad bar.

Not impressed, and the extra $12.95 for the crab legs, it's already quite expensive for what they give you for which I didn't find all that great. We actually almost "walked out" after our first survey of the buffet. If it were easy to sit down and go somewhere else, we would have.

We love Cape May! My husband and I have been twice and we'll be bringing the 3 kids on the 4th of July. I think peel & eat shrimp is peel & eat shrimp. It is what it is. Boiled shrimp. The mussels are wonderful and I've had some great salmon there as well. And finally...Oreo Bon Bons. Oh my! I think it's a great place.

Had breakfast and Dinner there though both to be outstanding. :Pinkbounc

Mealy, overcooked shrimp and rubbery clams and mussels. Dessert wa good but nothing else was rubbery. We have had better seafood at our local Red Lobster. I have heard breakfast is better but I doubt we will return for dinner.
