What can you see from Poly studio lake view?

I was able to snag 2 nights at the Poly in December in a lake view. Is there a building to request that is better than another? What can you see with a Lake View (i.e. fireworks, water pagent)? Are any views blocked?

There is only one building with Lakeview rooms. The Bungalows are all located in front of the lakeview so unless you really like ground floor you probably want to request upper or high floor.

We were in Moorea, 3rd floor lake view. Nice view of fireworks and also a good view of the bungalows. And being awakened by the ferry boat horn at 5:15 a.m., even though we were all the way on the other end. Why the ferry boat horn blows at 5:15 a.m. is a mystery, since nobody is boarding the ferry at that time. We heard the water pagent, but did not see it.

Not sure if DVC is classifying ground floor as a lake view....but I would sure be not very happy if I got a ground floor. Seriously....you will be looking at the front door of the bungalows.

From the way the DVC is set up, it appears that Moorea will be the only lake view...Pago Pago is behind it, and the other one still under construction does not face the lake.

So....definitely request higher floor. There are only three floors...3rd floor is a great view, can't vouch for the second....would not want ground.

I agree about asking for 3rd floor. However, first floor didn't seem as bad as I originally feared. I still think 3rd floor has best views, 2nd very good views, and first floor is mostly bungalow view (with some lake between the bungalows).

First floor rooms may actually be quieter though as the bungalows block some sounds and the foliage will also deaden some of the sounds.

While Tokelau doesn't face the lake. It does have some 3rd floor rooms near the lake that seemed like they will have a decent view of the lake slightly to the left.

If you want to see the Electric Water Pageant, I would go to the main pool area/beach area. Bungalows block the EWP, even for the 3rd floor lake view rooms. 3rd floor can see the EWP at MK later on, but not nearly as nice as the Poly pool/beach area.

FYI, there are 2 elevators in each building. Right near the middle of the building. Also stairs at each end and the middle.

We had second floor, center of building. We could see the castle and Space Mt. between the bungalows and a small strip of water over the bungalows. Not a good lake view in my opinion, I wouldn't request one again. I think the grounds are beautiful, and as long as you don't get the parking lot view, Pago Pago, I think the rest would be nice. They really should add standard, garden and lake view for booking categories.

The ferry horn wasn't as long at 5:15 am when it woke me. It was more bothersome when it was the full blast at 11:00 pm when I was trying to sleep. I would guess the fireworks would have been very good from our room.

The stairs were outside and the second elevator was around the corner from the initial one you see when you walk in.

I agree completely with this.
Lake view could be 3rd floor and 2nd floor. Granted 2nd floor will not be as good as 3rd floor, but at least it can see large sections of the lake. Maybe even 1st floor lake view rooms that are close to TTC (because they are not blocked by the bungalows).
Standard view should be the parking lot Pago Pago. At least that way people know what they are getting.
Everything else could be garden/bungalow view.

It took them years of listening to complaints about BLT lower floor MK view rooms before they changed. Hopefully, it happens faster at PVB.

During our stay, one morning, the ferry horns were tooting back and forth at each other. When I realized we could close everything tight and still hear our neighbors on their balcony, I realized the soundproofing in our room was terrible. This is the first resort where I experienced someone talking at a normal volume on their balcony could be heard in our room (with everything closed and blinds shut). May not be all rooms, but they certainly need to do something with the room we stayed in. (Apparently, they need to do something with several of the rooms).

If Iger stayed in one for a week, I believe we would see construction workers putting in acceptable sound proofing before his stay was over.

This is true for Moorea. There are two elevators, one large and one small, in the center of the longhouse, as well as three exterior staircases, one in middle of the longhouse and one at each end of the building.

However, at Pago Pago there is only one small elevator at one end of the longhouse. There are only two staircases at Pago Pago, each at opposite ends of the building.

dizfan, I agree completely with your suggested room categories. I hope if they reduce the lake view category, they do so sooner rather than later before it's a problem where they've sold so many lake view guaranteed weeks for any given week that they can no longer reduce the lake view inventory. But maybe those don't sell enough to worry about that? (We just purchased a guaranteed lake view ourselves, week 43.)

That's true, they could lower the points for the parking lot view, and raise the points for the 2nd and 3rd floor lakeview (although that would make those studios pretty darn expensive). But then again don't some of the VGF units look out over the VGF parking lot there? So same deal I guess, you takes your chances.
