What can you make with stew meat, without making stew?

Toss it in the crockpot with a bit of water then shred it up and add taco seasoning. You can make several different mexican meals.

Lemon Beef & Cheese Rice

Cheese Rice

1 Small onion diced
9 oz white rice (so slighly more than 1 cup)
2 Tbsp butter
2 Cups Chicken Broth (I sometimes use bullion and omit the salt)
1/2 Cup White Wine
1/2 C Parmesan Cheese - more or less to taste
Salt & Pepper to taste

Cook diced onion in melted butter
Add rice and stir until translucent
Add chicken broth, salt, pepper and wine and simmer until most of water is boiled away.
Add Cheese and stir until melted

While rice is simmering...

1 lb of beef cut up - I like the beef pieces to be less than 1" in any direction but you can do bigger it just has to cook longer.
flour to coat - about 1/4 - 1/2 cup varies depending upon size of pieces
salt & pepper to taste
1 medium onion cut in rings
2 tbsp Olive Oil
2 Tbsp Butter
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
1 Tbsp Parsley

Coat beef with flour, salt & pepper (I usually put in a large bowl and toss until coated - should just be a light layer) - set aside
Cook onion in 1 Tbsp oil & 1 Tbsp butter until transluscent. Remove onions from pan and set aside, leave oil & butter in pan add remaining oil and butter. Add floured meat to pan cook until done thru. Add onion, lemon and parsley. Stir until coated. Serve on top of rice. - DH likes more lemon flavor so I just hand him the bottle of lemon juice when at the table.

Crock Pot covered it with either a low sodium beef stock, or use your fav salsa. Beef stock so you can shreed it as others said, and it adds flavor-once it is cooked to shred stage cook the broth down as low as you can with out the meat and re-add it. You can then freez it and use it for anything like speg/noodle sauce, soup, tacos, and so on.
I really like to cook beef and chicken with salsa, red with the beef and a green verde with the chicken, most of the fat/skin removed.

If its real stewing meat you do not want to cook it fast or without liquid. It will be tough and dry.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the suggestions to use it for kabobs. What they call stew meat here is very fatty and would be tough unless cooked for a long time.

We use London Broil instead of what the store calls stew meat. It's more expensive, but sometimes you can catch it on sale. You can use it for almost any recipe.

Beef BBQ

Put it in a crock pot with water Onion cook on low for 6 hours shred it .

add to broth 1 cup Ketchup , 1 Cup brown and white sugar and 1Tbs yellow mustard 1 Tbs Worcester sauce 1 tbs whit vinegar Simmer on low till it thickens sever on roll or over white rice. You can make this a head and re freeze it for a busy day we take it camping.

Stir Fry...at least my version, not a really true version as this is more saucy

Brown meat in searing hot pan remove (I've had very little problem with toughness, but I also have been known to make this early then recook it later so it all gets a lot of cooktime.

put veggies in same searing hot pan and cook quick...

add meat back in, and sauce

stir till thickened then let it simmer, and serve over rice or noodles

Carne Asada - great as filling in tortillas

1 T oil
1 1/2 T flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 cups water or broth
1 beef boullion cube
1/4 cup chile powder
1 lb. stew meat, cut into 1 " cubes

Heat oil in a pan with a tight-fitting lid. Stir in flour to make a roux and cook, stirring constantly until browned. Add water, salt, garlic, chile powder and boullion cube and stir until everything is dissolved. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly and cook until mixture thickens. Add stew meat, cover and turn heat to low. Cook 2 hours until meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Serve on tortillas with sour cream.

Just tried "butter beef" in my crockpot for the 1st time this week. 3 lbs cubed stew beef, 1/2 cup water, 1 packet (1 oz) onion soup mix, 1/2 stick butter plus 10 oz sliced fresh mushrooms (optional). Cook in crock pot on low 6-8 hours. Serve with egg noodles or mashed potatos. So yum!!!:yay:

We just put stew meat in a crock pot with a little water... cook on high until it falls apart. Eat on toasted bread or hamburger buns with your choice of toppings..... (BBQ Sauce, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickles, etc.)

I cook mine the same way. We eat mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and toasted bread aka hotshots :) I will add beef broth with the water if I have it.

2 lbs. stew meat
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can golden mushroom soup

with about an hour to go add 1 block cream cheese cut up and some mushrooms

I cook this in a crock pot all day long and serve it over noodles. All of my kids love it.

Fondue!

Break out the fondue pot, add oil, and put your favorite sauces into cute little cups for dipping.

Throw the stew meat in the slow cooker. Add about a half bottle of barbeque sauce and buy some hamburger buns. Easy barbeque on buns. My son loves it.

beef stogginoff is my favorite to make with that :) in a crock pot cook the meat, a can of golden mushroom soup and some water or beef stock and onion ;) when that is cooked through or whenever you get home after a long day of work just throw some sour cream in and salt and pepper to taste and serve over buttered noodles like someone else said YUM!

We just used it last night to make a slightly modified version of Raglan Road's Keen Eye for the Shepherd's Pie. Tossed the stew meat in a crock pot with some spices in the morning. Then when we got home, we made the shepherd's pie. It was great!
