What can Shirley do for Christmas?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had ever ordered a small Christmas tree or other Christmas decorations from Shirley?
We don't sail until 12-17-05, but you know a good diser needs to be prepared!:teeth:
I wanted a small tree at least for our cabin. Has anyone done this (I know someone has!) and could you tell me what it costs? Thanks in advance!!

Dear GoofyShell -

Shirley can take care of everything!!! We sailed Christmas '03 and Shirley was simply wonderful. Plus, I think you are very wise to be planning this early for those decorations.

Shirley was able to arrange for a lovely 18"-24" pre-lit table top tree in a decorative stand. Also, I wanted some fresh cut greens so that we would have that Christmas scent in our cabin. She designed just what I had asked for in a beautiful Christmas sleigh. The fresh cut green scented the room throughout the cruise and the sleigh was pretty enough to take home as a future decoration..............but, alas, I didn't have any room.

I had brought an inexpensive holiday red table top runner with me and the tree and the sleigh looked awesome.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your cruise.

I agree with Ginny! I am sure that Shirley could do just about anything you come up with….and might even have some suggestions for you! She is a very creative, energetic and gracious lady!

I am a “newbie” to the Disboards and for our recent cruise (the 9-25 western) I contacted Shirley and requested she make up a bag “from Mickey and the gang”, rather than from mommy and daddy. She did a wonderful job making up an adorable gift bag of goodies for our DD age 5 and even signed the card from all the characters and princesses.

DD loved everything in the bag, and mostly the “diamond” tiara and earrings, which Shirley suggested be in the bag. She wore them everywhere on the cruise (to the club, to dinner, to Disney Dreams, to the Atlantis Sub excursion in Cozumel, you get the idea…) and when asked (by nearly everyone who saw her) where she got her tiara, she proudly told everyone that Mickey had the bag made up by Miss Shirley for her, for our cruise. Of course I then explained who “Miss Shirley” was and the connection to “The Perfect Gift”.

You should also know that Shirley is not only a business woman, she is an angel sent from heaven. Just prior to the 9-25 cruise she posted her cell phone number on this board, as a “just in case”, for upcoming cruisers. For some reason, I wrote down that number and had it with my cruise documents. Good thing I did, as we showed up on Friday at noonish at PC, the day before we were supposed to leave on our cruise, only to find out we would be under a mandatory evacuation on Saturday morning at 6 AM. To make a long story short, Shirley helped my “young family” as she refers to us, evacuate to a safe place to ride out the storm. We kept in touch the whole weekend.

So my point is, she is creative, knows lots of people, knows how to get things done and has a HUGE heart! I highly recommend her as she, is truly a “perfect” angel and a new friend I am glad to have made and will always treasure!

Sorry to be so long in my response, but in a world where some tend to focus way too much on the negative, I think it is nice to hear about someone who is a “gift”.

Shirley can do ANYTHING...just call her and she will help you.

Last year we cruised on 12-13. We took a small Christmas tree with us. DH put lights on it and I had it in a plastic bag, so security could see it...and we didn't have any problems getting it on board. Everyone around us in line said..."Oh how cute..wish I'd thought of that".

We plugged it in on the desk, and never unplugged it. It made a great night light too.

We are cruising on 12-4 this year, and if I can find it...we'll take it with us again.

Hello Susie,
You must be home now safe and sound - sorry we kept getting disconnected yesterday - what a way to meet, but I really enjoyed meeting you, Michael and of course Sarah - did she say anything about her dozen wishes coming true :D
Anyhow yep we can do arrangements for the rooms - just give us an idea as to what and how much -
Thanks for everything everyone
Always
Shirley

Thanks for the replies! Susie- I love the image of your little girl wearing her tiara everywhere!!
We actually had Shirley do a bag for our Wonder Cruise a couple of years ago. She actually got a swim noodle to fit in the bag! (little did I know there may have been room in the bag for the noodle, but not in the Mickey pool!) Shirley-you did a great job. I will definately call you when our cruise gets closer. Thanks for all you do for everyone!
I also thought about "wrapping" our door with Christmas paper. Anyone ever try that?

I'm bumping this up and looking for other great suggestions for special ideas for the Christmas cruise...
Thanks...

I am also interested in special things we can do for DD5 for our upcoming Land/Sea vacation. I am going to have 'Tinkerbell' leave a package of goodies in our hotel room. The package will consist of a Pal Mickey, Princess Guest of Honor Badge and an Autograph book. We will probably put some animal crackers or small snacks in there as well. (I am going to try and get to the hotel room first while DH distracts DD and leave it on her bed.)

I did like the look of the pail and shovel basket that Shirley puts together. That would be great for us. We are doing the Blackbeard Cay beach day and obviously Castaway Cay.

We are cruising this year on the Magic on 12/18 for 10 days. There are 13 of us (4 staterooms) and have our kids and grandkids.

What we are doing....................

grandkids are getting on ship and will have swimsuits on and go with their dads to the pool area to play.

Moms and me (grandma) will go to the staterooms and decorate for Christmas and leave cards for each family signed by Mickey and Minnie. We are taking one suitcase each with our Christmas "stuff" which we will hand carry on the ship. (We always need an extra suitcase when we come home anyway.)

We are each taking our 3 foot tall Alpine tree which will be decorated with lights. Then we have the measurements from DCL on the stateroom doors and we are wrapping the outside of each door with Christmas (Disney) paper and making a gift tag with the first names of each family member in that stateroom and putting a big bow on it.

Then we are having Shirley (from The Perfect Gift) make a basket for each grandkid.

We are also bringing our Christmas stockings for each family member which is a tradition in our family. Each family member has been pre-purchasing small inexpensive items to exchange with each other and once the stockings are hung you can go put the items in each others stockings. We also each wear traditional Christmas Eve pajamas which we will also be including.

I know this is a "few" additional items to bring, but to me it is well worth it. What did I buy for the grown kids for their stockings? Well, I bought a big pack of 60 minute phone cards and I will put those in their stockings as well as give to the CM's who take care of us on the ship!!!!
