What can I use my FCC for?

We have a decent amount of FCC that we will be applying to one cruise.
Wondering what types of purchases we can use that extra FCC for since it already covers the cruise fare and gratuities with a chunk leftover.

I was looking at the onboard gifts, but it looks like those are prepaid with credit or gift cards.

can I buy a wine package once onboard with FCC?

what else can be paid or purchased with FCC onboard credit?

We used ours for the spa, Palo, purchases on castaway Cay and on board, sports simulators, alcohol, excursions… It really can be used for any purchase on the cruise. The best tip I read is that if you have extra left over, that you can increase the gratuities paid to the staff instead of letting it go to waste.

The only thing we were not able to use it for was to book a place holder for a future cruise.

Our stateroom bill for our onboard purchases is often half the cost of the cruise! I always chuckle when I see people at a loss for what to spend on board since for me the challenge is how to limit spending.

Yes you can buy a wine package onboard—just ask your assistant server at dinner in the MDR. Or just order drinks a la carte.

Excursions—waitlist for a cabana at Castaway Cay if it is on your itinerary and you have a ton of FCC

A lot of what you can buy as an “onboard gift” can be ordered via room service onboard.

Palo and Remy
Bingo
Shopping for merch on the ship and at castaway cay
Beverage tastings
Princess tea or Bippedy boutique if you have kids.
Spa.
Golf simulator and gelato/cake shop if you are on the Dream or Fantasy.

If you are going to have any left over you can go down to Guest Services and add to your server/room attendant tips. Assuming they were as good as they usually are. We also bought cameras although prices were more expensive than Amazon and we really didn't need new cameras. Granddaughter got a really fancy Belle dress with her makeover.

I may be wrong, but there is a difference between FCC ("Future Cruise Credit") and OBC ("on board credit")...FCC can be used for flights, insurance, Disney transfers, hotels (booked through Disney). If you have any left over, it will revert to OBC, that can be used for excursions, Palo/Remy, drink packages, purchases, gratuities, WiFi, etc., things you can purchase on board the ship. However, once it converts from FCC to OBC (I think 2 weeks before your cruise), you have to use it onboard the ship.

So if you want to use the FCC for flights, etc., do it with FCC before the 2 week mark. Otherwise it will convert to OBC, and you will be limited.

That's my understanding, but correct me if I am wrong.

I do know that once FCC converts to OBC, you have to get a special "OK" from DCL accounting to convert any of it back to FCC, so don't miss the deadline (again, I think it is 2 weeks before the cruise, and you should get an email or a phone call from Disney explaining this).

You can use FCC for transport but not OBC. Disney told me FCC becomes nonrefundable OBC 7 days out but I would maybe put in a buffer …

Yes you can. We booked MCO to port with our FCC prior to sailing. We then added Port to MCO once onboard- and paid for it with our shipboard credit.

As others have said you can use Future Cruise Credit (got from cancelled cruises where you have left the money with Disney) for this not Onboard Credit (given by your TA usually).

I used my FCC for (or will have in September):

• Pre cruise hotel at Orlando Airport
• Transfer to the cruise from airport
• Cruise itself
• Gratuities
• Transfer to WDW hotel
• WDW hotel for 5 nights
• Disney tickets for 5 days
• Transfer to airport - although this has yet to be added as because Magical Express has gone they couldn't do until January this year (reminds me I need to chase them)
• Anything left I'm then planning on using as onboard credit towards a wine package and drink tastings as well as gifts

So if you aren’t sure about the second cruise, don’t do it. Someone in another thread was pretty upset to find out they wouldn’t get that money back if they cancelled the second cruise before PIF.

Yep. there was so much uncertainty that we applied our entire leftover $1500 to our 3 night cruise last week. We had a great time spending it!!

Airport to port your TA will have to contact Disney for you. Port to airport the TA can also arrange, this but you can do it once onboard.

They will always be able to accommodate this on board request for last minute DCL transfer to airport? I would hate to be stranded at the port.

When using FCC for OBC's, since the FCC is separate for each passenger, the OBC's are applied to the individual onboard account. So, for example, if you had two passengers, with a TOTAL remaining credit of $200 after paying for the cruise-portion - there would be a $100 credit to the onboard account to each of the two passengers.

In my case, if I spend $200 in OBC's, and since chose to roll-up all onboard charges to a single onboard account, only $100 of the FCC would have been used.

I’m not sure I follow. Are you saying that fro the 4 of us in our stateroom with OBC from FCC, I need to:
1) set up an onboard account for each passenger in the room?
2) know how much OBC is in each passenger’s account
3) be sure to spend deliberately from each passenger’s account?

I’m really concerned about 1 and 2 because although our total cruise fare is about the same, the price for pax 1&2 is higher and pax 3&4 lower. So basically my kids would have more FCC than my husband and I.
Can a cabana, for example, be charged to my kids’ OBC account?

We had the FCC applied to the rooms and it was just allocated to the rooms. We had two rooms, they were linked. Any charges for any people in the two rooms where charged against the FCC…didn’t matter if DH spent $500 and DD spent $50, it was just $550 against the FCC, and it didn’t matter from which occupants of which room. We ended up with about $175 leftover on the last night, so we just applied those to our stateroom host’s extra gratuity, by going to guest services.
