What can I realistically book 6 weeks in advance?

We are currently in the process of purchasing a dvc contract. I understand that the company we are using sometimes takes longer than others. So I think worst case scenario is that we have this wrapped up by late April or beginning of May. There are points that are use or lose points so we would be going to wdw this summer for sure.

My question is, what can I realistically expect to be able to reserve 6 weeks out? I know I won't get my home resort but I'm just wondering what is normally available last minute? And can I expect to be able to book 6 consecutive nights somewhere? We would be going in late June by the way...

Thanks for your help!

I think you could probably book Saratoga springs or Old Key West or Animal Kingdom Villas but you might be able to do a split stay if a couple nights are available at another resort ex: BLT for 2 nights SSR 4 nights... Those are popular times but high points cost so you might luck out.

Expect to have to book the more expensive views though...

Good luck!

You don't say what your home resort will be or when you want to go but we were able to book our home, SSR, at only 8 days out last August. There were no studios but we did find a 1-bedroom open. We had originally booked VGC and Aulani and DS had a last minute medical emergency where he couldn't fly for several weeks. I wasn't interested in OKW so didn't ask but I think it was available too. Our cancelation would've left openings for someone to get in at VGC and Aulani too. Probably went to waitlists but my point is that availability changes all the time so you can probably find something somewhere. Just be flexible.

We were in a similar situation last year but it was member info in June, book first week of August.. We were able to book a split-stay at AKV & SSR as soon as we got the number. Within a week we found 1 day at our home (BLT) and the rest at BWV, so we switched to those. I'm sure you'll find something, you just have to be flexible as well as vigilant in terms of checking what's available.

Your chances at SSR, OKW and AKV are good, BUT without knowing if you are looking for a studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom or GV it is hard to give you a clear picture.

What is your home resort? You might be ok for that as well.

We've booked 3 weeks out. Actually had a few choices to go with. We were offered a studio and 1 bedroom in Saratoga Springs, a studio at OKW and a studio at BW (which really surprised me).

This was the for the last week in May. I wasn't sure when my kids finished up the term and our summer was looking really packed.

It will depend on when you will vacation, June can be busy in the summer. You might need to a split stay between two resorts, e.g. 3 days at each resort. But most likely the larger resorts of AKV, OKW and SSR would have the most rooms available.

Hopefully you aren't planning on July 4 or the days leading up to it. Because six weeks out, those will be gone.

Hi thank you so much for your feedback! We will be going the third week of June. My first choice would be a one bedroom at animal Kingdom kidani. Our home resort is the wilderness Lodge.

The third week of June is our annual WDW week! You will most likely be able to get a 1 bedroom at Kidani but probably not at Jambo though you never know.

Your question got me wondering, so just for the heck of it I went in to look at about 6 weeks out as of right now (less than 6 weeks actually) - You could get a full week of a Studio at SSR starting 2/7 or a full week in a 1-BR at OKW also starting on Feb 7th. Who knows - those could be gone in 5 minutes. But it just points out what previous posters have said about room type, dates, a little bit of pixie dust, etc. Good luck and i hope you get something you like.

You should be able to get Feb 6 a week out. But that is a very slow time for members to go. Nothing going on then and the weather is still cool.

Thx for checking that and posting what you found! I hope to get a 1 bedroom as my daughter has always wanted to take a friend on vacation and she is getting to be the right age... So maybe if we can book something that will accommodate our family plus a guest we might be able to let her do that this summer. If not I'm just going to enjoy being anywhere at Disney! We even talked about doing a progressive vacation where we spend one or two nights at a resort and then move on.

A split stay is a great way to check out all the resorts. And since you're booking last minute, you could certainly piece together a nice split stay trip.

If you enjoy living out of a suitcase, split stays work. But if you like to unpack, have a refrigerator full of stuff that needs to stay cold/frozen, it can be a nightmare. If you intend to go to WDW for the next twenty/thirty years, don't split stay. Enjoy each resort for the length of your trip. It's not that great having that homeless feeling every few days between checking out and checking in.

Plus, don't plan on anything being set in stone until you have that reservation yourself. There was a member who wanted to book Aulani for his daughter's honeymoon a while back and he couldn't get it. Even after he promised her.
