what can i do with ps3 online?

netflix yes!
i dont know about amazon streaming though.
you can do just about anything a computer does if you connect it to your home computer and stream stuff to it. but its pretty in depth to do all that if youre not really tech savy.
i would choose a ps3 over a blu ray(if around the same price) jusr for the simple fact that it does mostly everything a bluray player does, plus you always have the option to play games!

I want something that uses WiFi. It's for dorm room so I have no wires and yes I am tech savy. I just haven't researched yet

It does connect to your home network via wifi--no wires needed! My boys watch a lot of netflix and youtube. Once you're connected, you have a regular browser window. We love the PS3! One word of advice: if you are going to be using it as a blu-ray player much, buy the ps3 remote control. Otherwise, you have to use the game controllers to operate the blu-ray functions, and it is not as intuitive as you'd think. Good luck!

Netflix, yes - Amazon Prime, no.

However, you can use your PS3 to stream Playon/Playon Premium ...which gives you access to Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand (rentals, not Prime), Youtube, Pandora, CBS, PBS, sports, and etc.

For the feature to work - Playon will have to be installed/running on a computer in the background.
