What can cause dizziness when laying down

This has happened a few times lately.
When I need to get up at night to use the bathroom I get up just fine but when I go to lay back down it seems the room starts spinning. It only lasts a few seconds but then I can’t get back to sleep. I do have a lot on my mind lately which makes my mind spin which I’m sure doesn’t help
Any ideas what could be causing the spinning.
It doesn’t happen a lot.

Do you see a chiropractor? Maybe your neck is out of place and lying down pushes it worse at times. An atlas adjustment got rid of some vertigo that had bothered me for a few months (admittedly that is specialized chiropractic and can be hard to find). I’d try even a general chiropractor before going to an MD personally. If it doesn’t work fairly quickly or the chiro said everything looks good, I’d go to an MD.

Vertigo? There is a type associated with lying down. I forget the name. Vertigo is often due to an inner ear issue, but there can be other causes.

Benign positional vertigo is the likely culprit.
I get episodes both laying down, turning over in bed as well as getting out of bed.
Episodes seem to come out of nowhere.
Check out epley maneuver videos on youtube.

It could be BPPV: Benign Proximal Positional Vertigo.
I have been having episodes for quite a few years. It truly stinks!! I've had episodes that have kept me home for days on end.
Please read up and possibly try the Epley Manuever at home with someone to quide/help, at least the first or second try.

I would see a Dr for this because it is peculiar and you want to make sure you don't miss something important.

Ear infections can do that and they can be very tricky.

Sinus infections can put pressure on your inner ear, so these are also tricky.

Blood pressure can be off in some way.

Could be a medication throwing off BP or throwing off your bodies electrolytes, vitamins or minerals, even causing dehydration - quirky stuff happens.

I have had the weirdest things happen after coming home from trips to amusement parks, my inner ear has thrown out air like a balloon I could hear in my head. ENT did tests, saw nothing but I get ear infections even as an adult, he said it could even be just from the flight itself, takeoff and landing because of trajectory - again quirky stuff, best to be seen.

As a rule I never ignore head stuff of any kind.
