Calling on all experienced mommies and daddies here. We have been to the parks many times and have even had a 3yr old in tow on one of those trips but we have never been this brave. We are going in Aug. and will be taking our youngest who will be 18m. Since we didn't have her on our previous trips I wasn't looking for things for toddlers to do in the parks. Do all of the rides have height requirements. Of course we are not trying to put her on space mountain or anything like that. Is Buzz okay or are there any rides that are appropriate for her age. Thanks so much for any info. Graciepooh
PS Is there anyway to get park maps before you go?

We're leaving Friday :cool1: and taking my 18 month old for the first time, so I can't speak from experience, but here are some good pages to check out...

Ride Restrictions

Personally, we plan on taking DD on everything that doesn't have a height requirement. Dumbo, Pooh, IASW, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Safari, Snow White, Tomorrowland Speedway, Tower of Terror :rotfl: ok, just kidding on that one! Of course, if she freaks out on any of them, I guess the plans will change. There's always Baby Swap I guess.

By the way, I think Buzz is OK, too, but I haven't checked b/c it will be closed when we're there. I don't see a height restriction though.

Hope this helps!

There is more that she can do, than can't do. She can do anything without a height restriction. 18 months is a great age. Of course she can't do the mountains or any of the rougher rides, but she can do most of the attractions. Start with the calmest and easiest rides and work your way up. Don't start with pirates of the carribean or haunted mansion, lol! Some kids are already starting to get afraid of the dark by that age, so test her out slowly. Start with small world, peter pan, pooh, etc. I would suggest getting her familiar with the characters before you go though. My oldest was 19 months the first time we went and we prepped her by showing her the disneyland sing-a-long video so she knew some of the characters. We also ordered the planning video to get her used to some of what we would be seeing. The whole reason we went was because there is so much for kids that age to do.

Last summer we took our 5 year old, 3 year old, and 9 month old. Disney is great for all ages. You certainly won't find a lack of things to do!

Have fun!

We just got back with a 17 month old. As bartleby1 said there is more she can do then can't.

Things I that her big sister did that she didn't were
Tmw land speedway
Big Thunder Montain
Goofys barnstromer
Sorin (in Epcot.)
Hunted Mansion (mostly just because she was asleep. I think she would of ben fine otherwise.)

Other ones she can't are Sticth, Space Montain and Splash montain.
Rockin Roller coaster and TofT Mission Space and Test track.

I might of forgetten one with a height restriction,

Other then that you can take a baby or 18 month on any ride.

Here is our a link to our trip report if you want.

Meals was the hardest part with a 18 month old. She did not want to sit in her chair, and that was mostly our falut for not really inforcing it at home. Other then that she had a great time and loved WDW. Her vocabuallly really expanded during our trip. It was so much fun to see. :yay:

We went in AUg w/ an 18 month old and had a great time. She rode everything and had no fears. We took her on Buzz, Pirates, Small WOrld (3 times), Spaceship Earth (4 times) and (the best ride of all) the elevators at the hotel! She was great-only 1 minor meltdown (In Canada actually-first spanking-another Disney milestone!). We took breaks every day and followed her schedule (mostly)- we were in the parks early b/c she is an early riser but left around 8pm each night- she usually fell asleep on the boat or bus back to Wilderness Lodge. She had lots of fears about the characters-didn't like any. If we had time and could spend awhile getting her adjusted- she wouldn't freak out but she was not the type to run up and hug anyone. So, I'd say be prepared for that and don't expect great pictures w/ the characters. Enjoy! We are going back in Feb for her 2nd birthday and can't wait. She still talks about things she saw on the trip-so she does remember!
