What camera to take??

We have iPhones, a waterproof Point & Shoot Nikon, and a Nikon DLSR that I'm still getting used to. We're going to do the Photo Pass+. But for capturing those special moments that photo pass won't be around to get, what do you suggest? What do you normally carry in the parks??

are you a disneyland regular? if you're not, i recommend you taking the point and shoot and the iphone and do photopass.

I carry around my DLSR. I've also taken my waterproof P&S for taking photos when the weather is bad (i.e., raining).

Not a regular...haven't been since March of 2000. This time around we're going in January for 4-5 days (haven't decided yet) and taking our 4-year old son. I may take the DLSR, but not take it to the parks everyday.

Last trip I brought my DSLR. I just put the lens on it that I chose for the day, and left the others in the hotel. It wasn't as much of a pain as I thought it would be. I just wore it with a longer strap cross body, and brought a neoprene cover for it when I wasn't using it. With no case it was light to carry. I also brought my point and shoot in case there were times I didn't want the DSLR with me.

When I had to replace my poor man's SLR earlier this year, I seriously looked long and hard between compact and SLR styled cameras. I ended up with a Sony camera with 26X optical zoom and 20.1MP. Despite the size of the darn thing, I love taking pics and because of this went with a bulkier camera. I know it's going to be a bit of pain to haul around, but don't mind because of the quality of pics it takes. It can't be any worse than my other poor man's SLR that I went on many trips with it.

I'm a DSLR girl all the way. I feel naked without it when I'm in the parks.

I bring my DSLR. I love the image quality of it and it can take many photos at once, so I know I at least got one good photo out of the ten I just took! LOL. Sometimes it is a pain to lug around, but later when I look at the images, I'm super happy I brought it! I use my phone for video and other random photos once in awhile.

I recommend pocketable P&S and Photo Pass Plus. With PP+ you get the advantage of more patient characters - since the photographer will have you do different poses, especially with your DS4.

I have twice decided not to take my DSLR. Once I just took my point and shoot and once I went with just my iPhone. Both times I regretted not taking my DSLR, the pictures just aren't the same.

I think it's the control that the DSLR gives me. I can adjust for light conditions, I can adjust the shutter speed. I know most p&s let you do that, but they really don't have the glass. The right glass gives me everything I want. My 50mm f1.4 lets me take great shot on dark rides. Looking to get a wider lens when it's in the budget. Or hit the lottery and then I'll get the REALLY nice lens. It really is all about good glass.

On my last visit during the 24 hour party, I took a few photos with my cell phone for twitter purposes in addition to the DSLR shots.

In looking at both pictures close up, there is no comparison whatsoever. The cell phone shots lack the sharpness, color, texture, detail, et all.

While I think PhotoPass is a tremendous service that I have used many times, it's inevitable that there are always character moments on my DSLR that PhotoPass did not capture. For instance, PhotoPass shows me dueling with Darth Goofy. My DSLR captures the shot where I am falling backwards after Darth Goofy struck me down with my own lightsaber.

We are going 4 days, planing on taking the point and shoot 2-3 days and then the SLR 1-2 days. I want to get awesome photos but my SLR is a heavy beast.

Also planning on taking a GoPro.

I used to take my nice camera and then I was always worried about it bumping stuff/cleaning the lens, had to prepare it to take pictures, had to carry it everywhere. Now I just take my iPhone and my pictures are just as good, if not better (no settings to adjust). And one less thing to worry about! I recommend just taking your iPhone. :)

I take my DLSR and two lens. I only carry one lens at once (mounted) and leave the other in the hotel. I also take a P&S for when I don't want to risk my VERY expensive DLSR/Lens combo (like on Calf Screamin'). I shoot the most compact full-frame DLSR available (or was when I purchased that body) which is a D600 Nikon. I typically shoot primes in f/1.4, so I've got a fair amount of versatility. What I miss out on is a long focal length though, and that glass in the aperture I prefer is HUGE, HEAVY, and VERY pricey.

I just ordered an extra long camera strap, so I can wear my DLSR cross-body instead of around my neck. I'll probably take it the first day and then make my decision from there.

Now to decide what stroller to take! Seriously, there are entirely too many decisions to make for a type A to go on vacation!

LOL! How many kids do you have? We are going later this month and only bringing one full size stroller for DS4. DS6 has to walk for the first time. He is tall and just looks silly in a stroller! I'm a little worried about the walk back to the hotel with him! Don't want to be carrying 55lbs of sleepy kid!

Another option to consider is the "Go Pro on a stick". I noticed several of those when I was in the parks last week. Makes it easier to take selfies I guess.

We only have one child and he's 4. We live in Texas and frequently visit Sea World. We take the BOB jogging stroller because it is so easy to push around, it has tons of storage and it's easy for our son to get in and out of. But like the DLSR, it's bulky and I don't want it to get messed up on a plane. We have an umbrella stroller too...it's just that the BOB is so easy...it has us spoiled!
