What camera is best for me?

I have been looking at upgrading to a DSLR for what seems like forever. Right now I have a Kodak 6490 and love the pictures I take (usually) but think it's time to go to the next level. I am leaning towards the Nikon D90 or the Canon T1i. I think I want to have the flexibility of video. I sometimes use it now, mostly for short clips of my son's hockey games. So any suggestions on what camera would be best for me? My head is spinning with all the options and I don't want to end up wishing I had something else. My primary concern is shooting good sports action shots of my kids. Outdoor soccer and indoor ice hockey. Should I be more concerned about the lens then the camera body? Any help is appreciated!!!

TIA

Yes, the lens is going to be more of a concern. Depending on lighting you may want to get something like the 70-200 F2.8 lens. It's big, it's heavy but indoor lighting can be really bad. It won't really balance well on a T1i in my opinion but it is doable. I don't know about how it would balance on the D90. You could do a fast prime but that could be difficult with the range of the rink. Hope this helps!

The D90 is probably your more sturdy camera in the long run as far as housing.

The cool thing about hockey is the nice white backdrop. It is a little easier to get action shots indoors because the ice reflects the generally bad lighting. I've even been able to get decent pro hockey shots with my old Canon S5.

Another option is there is a refurbished 50D for 999.99 from Adorama that could be dropped a bit below $900 with CB. Good deal in my opinion and would balance very nicely with a F2.8 telephoto.
